The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position:
Permanent Part-Time
Hospice Worker
The Hospice Worker is a valued member of the health care team and works under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Registered Practical Nurse to provide compassionate, patient-centred support to hospice, palliative, and long-stay patients. Care is focused on quality of life, comfort, dignity, and strong patient and family advocacy.
Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, patient-centred care to hospice, palliative, and long-stay patients Support quality of life, symptom management, and patient/family comfort Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, transfers, hygiene, and meals Communicate changes in patient condition and relevant information to RN/RPN promptly Support patients and families at end of life with sensitivity and professionalism Advocate for patient wishes and respect dignity, rights, and privacy Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members Participate in shift report, follow care plans, and aid with basic clinical tasks within scope Maintain safe, clean, and stocked work areas; restock supplies and clean equipment as needed Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement, patient safety reporting, and safe work practices
Requirements
Successful completion of an approved PSW/nursing assistant training program or equivalent (completion of Year 1 RPN program or Year 2 RN program considered equivalent) Current CPR Experience in various areas of care is preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer skills Knowledge and adherence to DRHC's Code of Conduct Proven attendance record Able to perform the essential physical duties of the job Willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends Demonstrates DRHC Core Values, Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion and Respect Proof of COVID vaccination to be presented prior to hire
This is a union position. Compensation will be as per the Collective Agreement starting at $29.00/hr. with up to an additional 11% in lieu of benefits. Applicants are requested to forward a completed resume and cover letter to; hr@drhc.on.ca

We are a 42 bed full service Regional Health Centre located in the family friendly city of Dryden, Ontario. We are powered by 300 highly engaged staff and everyone here understands their contribution to health care and the patient experience. Our leadership team, board of directors and physicians work well together to achieve full accreditation status; manage our finances and forecast the changing the needs of our catchment region.
Our hospital features a 24/7/365 ER department supported by on site Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Services; 16 physicians support all aspects of local health care delivery including General Surgery, Oncology, Fracture Clinic, Primary Care, Emergency Medicine and much more. We have maintained a balanced budget for over 15 years through prudent fiscal management and partnering with the local and broader community for capital fundraising efforts.
