Social Media & Communications Assistant
About the role
Position: Social Media & Communications Assistant Location: North York (Hybrid) Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 Job Type: 6-month contract Posting Type: Open vacancy
Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization, is seeking a Social Media & Communications Assistant for 6 month temporary contract. This role is ideal for a communications professional who can quickly integrate into a busy team, manage multiple priorities independently, and support the delivery of engaging digital communications, storytelling, and social media initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and publish social media content, monitor engagement, and track performance across digital channels.
- Create, edit, and proofread communications materials, including website content, newsletters, presentations, and stories.
- Support media relations by drafting press materials, monitoring coverage, and coordinating storytelling initiatives.
- Coordinate photo/video shoots, ambassador activities, events, and stakeholder communications.
- Provide communications and administrative support, including website updates, reporting, creative coordination, and maintaining departmental resources.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field, with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills with experience creating digital and social media content.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator); WordPress and Mailchimp are assets.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector is an asset; flexibility to support occasional evenings/weekends, with a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle considered an asset.
