This position works in the Bonsor 55+ Centre. This is administrative, supervisory and specialized recreational work in managing the operations of a Senior Citizen's Centre and in planning, developing, implementing, and directing a variety of programs, activities and services for older adults and senior citizens. This position develops, implements, and directs programs and activities, plans, assigns and supervises centre staff, works with an advisory group and committees regarding program and service development, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. The Centre Supervisor exercises considerable independence of action and judgement within the limits of departmental policy and procedures; performs a variety of administrative duties such as requisitioning supplies, scheduling facilities, preparing reports, resolving problems and complaints, prepare budget estimates, monitor revenues and expenditures; and recommend new or revised policies and procedures. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include university graduation in Recreation with courses related to gerontology plus sound related supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the social, cultural and recreational needs of older adults and Seniors; considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community recreation programs for older adults and Seniors. Considerable knowledge of the services provided by community resource groups; ability to supervise the Seniors Centre with various programs and activities and plan, develop and coordinate related programs and services under minimal supervision. Ability to plan, assign, train, review and supervise the work of subordinates, recruit and train volunteers, and participate in interviewing Centre staff. A Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.

Schedule: 35 hours weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Mutual Agreement between Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM)
