ACTING IT Systems Analyst - 12 Month Contract

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Solutions, the Acting Systems Analyst will support the organizations IT needs by working with the end-users and internal staff to collect and resolve system software problems. The incumbent will test and implement software solutions as well as maintain existing applications.

THE POSITION INVOLVES…

The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:

  • Implement information technology solutions to meet the organization’s business objectives and work with end-users and internal team members to collect and refine software application incidents and problems.

  • Develop specifications for system software applications and maintain existing applications

  • Test and implement software solutions

  • Provide direct technical support for various proprietary software applications

  • Provide specifications through analysis in order to meet the business requirements

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of technical documentation and standards

  • Diagnosing, resolving, and documenting application software reported by users.

  • Coordinate IT projects in preparing use cases, test scripts, and change requests, and create them independently for smaller initiatives

  • Coordinate and assist with third-party maintenance for software

  • Co-ordinate and conduct in-house developed application user training.

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a Solutions or Systems Analyst role, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills, judgment and project management ability required
  • Proficient in MS office Suite (365/2019+).
  • Experience using MS Access (2019+) to access information in a relation database.
  • Experience in systems analysis and programming
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, etc.),SQL Server and related tools (basic SQL knowledge ideal)
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle
  • Ability to write business/functional requirements
  • Willingness to continuously update personal IT skill and knowledge
  • Experience with packaged software implementation
  • Experience with functional, integration, regression, acceptance, ad-hoc, browser/mobile compatibility testing.
  • Working knowledge of HelpDesk/Ticketing systems

PLASP Child Care Services is a community-based, charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing accessible, affordable, high quality licensed child care to all children, including those with diverse learning needs.

PLASP provides care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The organization operates Before and After School programs in over 240 elementary schools located and 28 Early Learning and Child Care Centres located throughout Peel and in Toronto, and five EarlyON centres in Peel Region. Where there is sufficient need, PLASP provides year-round care for school age children by providing programs during P.A. days, the winter holidays, March break and summer, at selected locations.

Established in 1975, PLASP has built a solid reputation as an excellent provider of child care and early childhood education. PLASP believes that families are entitled to the support of high quality child care that is affordable, safe and reliable , giving them the peace of mind to go to work each day.

All PLASP programs are licensed. PLASP hires staff who are Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) who are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. All staff must have a valid First Aid Certificate and clear criminal reference check. Staff in our Before and After School Programs have completed at extensive training to program in providing care to school age children that is recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Child Care and Early Years Act. Currently, PLASP employees over 1,500 individuals in our programs and at our head office in Mississauga.

PLASP has been voted the number one provider of child care by the readers of the Mississauga News Newspaper and City Parent Magazine every year since 1998. PLASP annually surveys parents regarding their level of satisfaction with the program and continues to receive an overall satisfaction rate of 94%.
