About the role
Are you a hands-on Product Owner who thrives in fast-paced environments? Do you love building meaningful digital products and turning ideas into impactful solutions?
We're looking for a Product Owner to drive the evolution of our digital insurance platform, building products that simplify insurance, automate complex workflows, and help more Canadians find the right coverage.
This is not a roadmap management role. We're looking for a builder who enjoys getting into the details, writing clear specifications, working closely with engineers, and shipping high-quality software quickly. You're passionate about building software products and naturally curious about how great web applications are designed, built, and continuously improved.
What we’re building
YouSet is disrupting the insurance industry with technology, data and human expertise. We are on a mission to build the most comprehensive and most loved insurance platform in Canada. We’re growing fast and looking for a talented Product Owner to help us shape the future of insurance by building products that customers love and teams rely on. To date, we’ve helped over 500,000 Canadians shop for their home and car insurance with an average of 4.9 stars in online reviews.
What will you be responsible for?
North Star: Build products that customers love and that drive measurable business impact.
Backlog Management & Delivery
Own a development-ready backlog, ensuring every initiative is clearly specified, prioritized, estimated, and ready for engineering execution.
Own delivery status for every feature, from concept to launch
Resolve delivery blockers fast Coordinate design priorities with our external designer to ensure solutions are ready for development Collaborate effectively with engineers on technical topics, including API integrations, frontend and backend logic, and data models.
Validate automation initiatives by testing broker workflows in legacy systems
Requirements & Stakeholder Communication
Translate complex insurance workflows and business requirements into clear, development-ready specifications.
Manage API integration requirements with external partners
Serve as the main point of contact between engineering, design, and internal business stakeholders
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Track key product metrics (e.g., quote completion rate, operational efficiency, feature adoption) to monitor delivery outcomes and identify improvement opportunities Continuously evaluate AI-powered features (e.g., LLM-based solutions, predictive models) and define improvements to increase accuracy, reliability, and business impact. Identify opportunities to automate internal processes and reduce manual work across the business
What type of person are you?
You ship. You are not satisfied with planning, you get things across the finish line and take ownership of delivery from start to end. You thrive in ambiguity. When the process is unclear or information is incomplete, you ask the right questions, make reasonable assumptions, and keep moving. You communicate with precision. Developers, designers, and business stakeholders always know where things stand because you keep everyone aligned without over-communicating. You use data to decide. When something is not working, you look at the numbers first before jumping to conclusions. You keep it simple. When faced with a complex problem, your instinct is to find the most straightforward solution, not the most sophisticated one.
Do you have what it takes?
4+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment Love web apps — Experience building modern web applications with complex user workflows and multiple system integrations. Strong execution mindset — you turn a defined outcome and break it into clear, correctly-sequenced, buildable specs that a development team can execute — even when the starting point is ambiguous. Excellent communicator — written and verbal — able to align developers, designers, and business stakeholders with clarity and confidence Strong technical fluency — comfortable discussing APIs, frontend, backend logic, and data models with engineers to write precise specs and make informed decisions without writing code Hands-on approach to validating workflows, including testing and replicating real-world processes in legacy systems Actively use AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Figma AI, Gemini, and others) to accelerate your workflow and increase output quality
What does the interview process look like?
Discovery call: 30 minutes to assess mutual fit
Take-Home challenge: a short practical exercise to evaluate how you think and work Challenge review & final interview: 90 minutes to walk through your challenge and go deeper on your experience Reference & background checks: followed by an offer if it is a match on both sides
What’s in it for you?

Up to 5 weeks of vacation per year 100% remote or downtown Montreal office Work abroad for up to 90 days per year Comprehensive health, dental, vision & life insurance Unlimited sick & mental health days Paid parental leave (4 months top-up) Sponsored team activities & events Flexible start date (the sooner the better!)
