Date Rate: $360 - $480 per day based on 12hour field day

#Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide essential operational and logistical support for exploration camps and field programs, ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient working environment. This involves comprehensive camp management, facility maintenance, and logistical coordination, with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and maintaining effective field-to-management communications.

This individual is key to sustaining the continuous and reliable operation of all camp facilities and infrastructure.

Collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Contractors, and other members of the Operations Group to guarantee the efficient movement of personnel and supplies. Ensure all activities adhere to safety requirements and production deadlines.

#Job Overview

The Seasonal Camp Manager/Assistant co-leads daily camp operations and logistics for exploration programs. Responsibilities include hands-on facility maintenance (tents, kitchen, washroom/dry), inventory, waste management, and strict adherence to environmental protocols (incinerator operation). A critical component is troubleshooting and maintaining camp equipment (generators, pumps, heaters, furnaces) and field vehicles (ATVs). The role ensures safety through bulk fuel tank monitoring (leaks and volumes) and supports communication between field crews and management, promoting a safe, organized, and efficient environment for successful exploration.

Work schedule: Rotation-based - Shifts are typically 21 days on and 7 days off *subject to change based on program needs, weather conditions or other logistical constraints.

#Operational & Logistics Responsibilities

  • Support camp operations and field program logistics.
  • Manage inventory, supplies, and facility maintenance (kitchen, sleeping tents, office, etc.).
  • Facilitate communication between crews and management.
  • Monitor fuel tanks for volumes and leaks.
  • Repair and troubleshoot gear, including ATVs, generators, and heaters.
  • Coordinate field crew needs, such as travel and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure logistics supervisors complete operational trackers for shipping, samples, and planning.
  • Other duties as assigned

#Camp Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized camp to support the health and well-being of all members.
  • Manage the efficient assembly and teardown of wall tent camps during mobilization.
  • Direct daily chores, including cooking, cleaning, and resource collection, to ensure a fair and cohesive living environment.
  • Ensure all camp equipment remains functional and ready for use.

#Safety and Integrity Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, efficient camp.
  • Enforce Health and Safety protocols for contractors.
  • Report all hazards, incidents, and injuries immediately.
  • Exercise safety rights, including the refusal of unsafe work.
  • Operate professionally in the field, camp, and transit.
  • Join daily safety meetings, shift summaries, and ERPs.
  • Use and maintain all required PPE.
  • Uphold GroundTruth's social and environmental values.
  • Ensure staff and contractors act professionally on-site and in communities.
  • Provide accurate, timely communication to clients and staff.
  • Protect sensitive data while maintaining transparent reporting to management.

Working Conditions

Expect outdoor work in varied terrain and weather (ranging from -35C to +35C). You will daily traverse conditions from humid to snowy on foot. The season runs mid-May to October, featuring 12-hour daily shifts. Remote sites are reached by truck, aircraft, or ATV. Camps include wall tents and satellite internet; you will live in close quarters with your crew. Extreme wilderness isolation is expected, with wildlife like bears and moose present. Cell service is unavailable, and satellite internet is limited. Travel between the project and the city can exceed 10 hours.

Physical Requirements-Field Component

This role requires a high degree of physical strength and stamina in order to perform the job responsibilities. Physical demands may include:

  • Lifting up to 50 Lbs. unassisted
  • Exposure to cold, heat and noise

Position Requirements

  • 2+ years of mining exploration experience, working in a remote camp setting.
  • 2+ years of relevant camp site operations & logistics experience.
  • Strong practical skills for rapid field assessments and diagnosis of machinery malfunctions.
  • Good knowledge in carpentry, mechanics and plumbing.
  • Demonstrated excellent inventory management capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and Problem-solving skills.

Mandatory:

  • Valid Class 4 or 5 Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • Standard First Aid Level C, CPR & AED Certification
  • Canadian Citizen or valid Canadian Permanent Resident
