THE OPPORTUNITY
Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is seeking a IT Intern for a 12 month internship starting in September 2026. (This job posting represents an existing vacancy.)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be accountable for assisting with business requirements collection, analysis, documentation, research on a range of IT requirements, and providing end user support.
- Supports information gathering, analysis, and documentation of business requirements and IT solutions.
- Assists in researching and evaluating potential AI tools and solutions relevant to organizational needs (e.g., automation, data analysis, chatbots).
- Conducts research on continuous improvement and performance measurement project initiatives.
- Conducts research of legislation, regulations, policies, and programs to support IT policy development.
- Prepares materials for compliance and IT audit processes.
- Creates reports using data visualization, metrics, and patterns.
- Provides support for procurement activities to BOF IT management.
- Participates in testing of software and reporting systems.
- Assists in reporting and tracking user incidents with the MSP vendor.
- Helps document issues with applications identified during testing.
- Provides end-user support for hardware, software, network issues, and IT applications (e.g., password resets, printer setup).
- Responds to service tickets and logs incidents in the IT support system.
- Helps with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, monitors, peripherals, and user software.
- Tracks and updates inventory of IT equipment and assets.
- Updates technical manuals, user guides, and IT procedures.
- Performs routine system maintenance such as software patching, backups, and virus scans.
- Assists with basic network troubleshooting (e.g., checking cable connections, Wi-Fi setup).
- Supports IT projects by entering or organizing data as required.
- Helps IT staff with small-scale projects, such as system upgrades or migrations.
- Assists in building data models and reporting tools to support BOF program areas.
- Supports analysis of large datasets and ensures data quality and integrity.
Education and Experience
- Recent graduates with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Information System Design, or related field.
Knowledge and Skills
- General knowledge of business process and modeling tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Visio, O-365 diagrams).
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- General knowledge of policy development process, principles, and techniques.
- Knowledge of AI concepts, machine learning, chat bots and the ethical considerations of AI
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Efficient organizational and planning skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adjust to changing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other internal applications.

Physical Our office at 79 Wellington Street W, Toronto is steps from Union Station, with great dining and transit options.
As part of the Ontario Public Service, BOF requires employees to work in-office five (5) days/week. We believe in-person presence and collaboration strengthens culture and service delivery.

The expected salary for this role is CA$55,000 for candidates who meet the stated qualifications.
