Site Reliability Engineer Location: Toronto, ON Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 4 days per week onsite Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 1 year (extension possible; conversion to permanent possible) Pay Rate: $90.00-$105.00 / Hour (CAD) Shift / Schedule: Monday to Friday - core business hours; overtime could come up depending on business needs Travel Requirements: Not required Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. Job Summary This is a Site Reliability Engineer role supporting a new vendor software implementation (QRM) within a complex and critical environment. The successful candidate will bring an appetite for contributing within a complex and critical environment, along with experience deploying, managing, and operating complex applications in a cloud environment such as Azure. The individual should have an understanding of shell script, PowerShell, Python, and the ability to code for automation, as well as an understanding of critical concepts in DevOps (CI, CD, CM, IaC, etc.) and Agile principles. The team is small (5-6 people), and the role requires readiness and motivation — as a senior or lead developer and valued subject matter expert — to address and resolve highly complex and multifaceted development-related issues, often independently. We are looking for an individual with a strong engineering mindset and sense of ownership, along with strong organizational, follow-up, and priority-setting skills to handle highly complex and multi-faceted assignments and to work independently. Required Skills Windows administration and PowerShell experience Database experience, maintaining and managing MsSQL databases (SSRS/SSIS) Cloud experience e.g. Azure Services including IaaS, IaC Configuration management tools e.g. SALT, Terraform, Ansible, or CHEF Development/Engineering experience e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Shell, Python Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket, Nexus, or similar toolsets Excellent troubleshooting skills Experience in infrastructure, services, and application monitoring and logging Preferred Skills QRM implementation experience Configuring and managing big data technologies / databases, and understanding of various approaches to data storage and indexing Any relevant Azure certifications Required Experience 8-10 years of overall senior-level experience (minimum) Nice-to-Have Experience QRM experience — strong asset Migration into the cloud, Azure Windows operating system experience MS SQL experience Education Requirements Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate required About the Client Top 10 North American bank providing comprehensive retail, commercial, and wealth solutions.
