DEPARTMENT: Production Technology

REPORTS TO:  Sr. Manager, Events, Projects & Production Technology

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Broadcast Manager oversees all technical and operational aspects of Rogers Arena’s broadcast and production systems. This role leads the Broadcast and Patchbay teams, ensuring flawless execution of all live productions and event signal flow. The Broadcast Manager provides hands-on technical leadership, second tier system maintenance and troubleshooting, and innovation across broadcast control, replay, graphics, and distribution systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, schedule, and mentor Digital Signage systems Tech, EIC and Patchbay staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Promote teamwork within the Broadcast Production and IPTV groups, ensuring reliable performance across all events.
  • Support and collaborate with the Sr. Manager, Events, Projects & Production Technology to ensure departmental success.
  • Manage technical support for Canucks Sports & Entertainment properties including Rogers Arena, Abbotsford Centre, and Top Table restaurants covering all broadcast and production technology infrastructure.
  • Provide daily operational support for arena broadcast and media systems, including workflow optimization, troubleshooting, and equipment repair.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for researching, building, servicing, and innovating within broadcast production technology.
  • Oversee and maintain the technical design, performance, and reliability of: Broadcast Control Room systems, Camera systems, Video & signage infrastructure: in-house CATV headend and distribution, bowl and external LEDs, scoreboard control, and timing/data systems.,
  • Administer the Iconik Asset Management system and NAS infrastructure, Live streaming and editing systems: asset management, transcoding, shared storage, and archives.
  • Partner with Event Managers, Game Presentation, and the Content Group to deliver seamless event production.
  • Liaise with outside broadcast partners (NHL, Dome Productions, SN etc.) to ensure compliance with technical and operational standards.
  • Track and report on expenses, equipment purchases, and service agreements.
  • Procure equipment, services, and materials required to maintain and upgrade broadcast infrastructure.
  • Manage inventory for spare parts and RMAs, supporting technicians and contractors during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Contribute to long-term broadcast technology strategy, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast engineering, live production, or venue technology.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical staff in a live production environment.
  • Expertise with broadcast signal flow, routing systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with digital video and audio systems.
  • Experience with Ross Video, Evertz, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with scoreboard, replay, and timing systems in sports venues.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure during live events and tight timelines.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and event-based schedules.
  • Comfortable working in elevated environments such as arena catwalks when performing equipment maintenance or inspections.
