Role Overview

The Senior Associate, Client Communication & Engagement will be responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing integrated communications strategies that strengthen Mackenzie’s relationships with advisors, investors, and distribution partners. This role sits at the intersection of marketing strategy, digital client engagement, and communications governance, requiring both executional precision and strategic vision.

Reporting to the Director, Client Communication & Engagement, the Senior Associate will oversee multi-channel initiatives with a focus on email marketing, personalization, and digital enablement tools, ensuring every touchpoint reflects Mackenzie’s brand standards, value proposition, and regulatory obligations. Success in this role will require strong communication skills, collaboration with internal partners, familiarity with the Canadian asset management landscape, and the ability to apply data-driven insights to client engagement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drive Client Engagement Initiatives (60–70%)

  • Manage the end-to-end execution of email campaigns and digital enablement programs: from content planning and message drafting, through compliance approvals, deployment, and performance reporting.

Develop, manage, and optimize journey-based email campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Engage, and Pardot, ensuring communications are personalized, compliant, and scalable.

Apply segmentation strategies (advisor tiering and personalization by segment, dealer groupings, geography, product targeting, etc.) to deliver communications tailored to specific audience needs.
Collaborate across Sales, Client Experience, and Product Marketing to ensure omni-channel alignment across MI.com, Seismic, email, webinars, and events.

  • Demonstrate strong organization and project management skills, independently balancing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.

2. Messaging Strategy & Governance (20%)

Act as a gatekeeper for tone, accuracy, and compliance, ensuring that all client-facing messaging meets both Mackenzie’s brand standards and Canadian regulatory requirements (CSA, IIROC, MFDA, CASL).

Develop and maintain communication playbooks and frameworks that drive clarity, consistency, and brand alignment across channels.
Partner with Product Marketing, Client Experience, and Sales to tailor messaging strategies by audience and campaign objective, ensuring communications are clear, engaging, and impactful.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to colleagues on email best practices, strengthening alignment and elevating institutional quality delivery for the organization.

3. Insights, Measurement & Continuous Improvement (10–15%)

Partner with Analytics and Data teams to measure engagement metrics (open rates, click-throughs, conversions) and assess campaign effectiveness.

Apply data-driven decision making, leveraging insights from A/B testing, behavioral data, and advisor feedback to continuously improve strategies.
Stay current on email marketing best practices (CASL compliance, accessibility standards, deliverability optimization, personalization trends) and apply them to enhance the client experience.

  • Monitor competitor activity and emerging technologies, proactively exploring innovative approaches to improve communications and advisor engagement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in marketing communications, client engagement, or digital/email marketing, ideally within financial services or asset management. Experience with digital tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Pardot, and Seismic; familiarity with analytics platforms (Google Analytics, etc.) is an asset.
Strong knowledge of the Canadian investment industry and distribution models; understanding advisor vs. investor communication needs is preferred.
Proven ability to simplify complex financial concepts into clear, client-friendly messaging that aligns with Mackenzie’s brand and regulatory standards.
Demonstrated strength in collaboration and stakeholder management, working effectively with cross-functional partners to deliver results.
Ability to work with limited supervision, showing initiative, accountability, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Progress toward an industry designation (CSC preferred; IFIC or CMA designation an asset) is encouraged at this level.

Benefits***:***

  • COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION & RECOGNITION**:** competitive base salary, performance-weighted bonus, education/career support, option to join Employee Share Purchase Plan with employer matching component.
  • EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: competitive health and dental coverage; employer sponsored coverage for you and your family.
  • RETIREMENT SAVINGS PROGRAMS: voluntary Group RRSP enrolment with employer matching component.
  • INSURANCE: employer sponsored short-term and long-term disability.
  • WORK LIFE BALANCE: paid volunteer days, competitive time off including 10 wellness days off, WorkPerks discount program, hybrid & flex work arrangements.
  • INCLUSIVE CULTURE AND DIVERSITY: living our core values: Be a Team, Be Accountable, Be Better, engaging with community through Business Resource Groups (BRG communities are volunteer employee-led groups formed around a common interest, identity, or background).

IGM is a diverse workplace committed to doing business inclusively - this starts with having a representative workforce! We encourage applications from all qualified candidates that represent the diversity present across Canada – including racialized persons, women, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ community, gender diverse and neurodiverse individuals, as well as all who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.
