Human Resources Advisor (Total Rewards & HR Programs)

Our public sector client is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to support their HR team for an interim opportunity. The successful candidate will provide expertise across a range of HR functions, with a focus on total rewards, compensation, and talent acquisition. This role will support organizational HR strategies, oversee key HR programs, and provide guidance to leaders and staff in a unionized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support compensation, job evaluation, pay equity, benefits, and pension programs
  • Support payroll and HRIS processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Partner with leaders and hiring managers on recruitment and talent acquisition activities, including job postings, candidate screening, and selection processes
  • Provide advice and interpretation on collective agreements and employment legislation (Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act)
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, including process improvements, change management, and employee engagement programs
  • Provide guidance and support to HR team members and contribute to overall HR operations

Qualifications:

  • Experience in one or more core HR areas, such as compensation, benefits, job evaluation, payroll, or recruitment/talent acquisition
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and experience working in a unionized environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply HR best practices to organizational needs
  • Experience leading or supporting HR projects, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and advisory skills, with experience working with senior leaders and stakeholders
