The Department of Sociology is inviting applications to teach courses in winter 2026. Please complete the online application form and upload a CV and cover letter. The cover letter should contain the following information:
- Area examinations completed along with date of completion
- Previous TA or course lecturer experience for the course(s) for which you are applying
Applications will be ranked according to the collective agreement between McGill University and the MCLIU. Preference will be given to the qualified applicant with the most priority points. SOCI 388 – Crime
Introductory course on methods and theories in criminology. Exploration of the nature and distribution of crime; and critical evaluation of definitions and the measurement of crime; review of theoretical approaches used to understand such a phenomenon; a comparative overview of the criminal justice system.
January 5 – April 14, 2026: Tuesday & Thursday (4:05 – 5:25 pm)

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education: Priority will be given to Ph.D. students near the completion of their degree.
Experience: Successful completion of area exam in Deviance and Social Control within the last five years and/or prior experience as a teaching assistant for SOCI 388.
This course will be taught by one instructor in-person.
