Product/Application Engineer- Process Heat Exchangers

The primary focus of Product/Application Engineer- Process Heat Exchangers will be responsible for review of specs, design, quotation, and product support for Industrial Heat Exchangers (Energy Division) and handover to Order Fulfilment and Project Manager. Core Products include GPHE and CWHE.
Key Tasks Will Include
- Review quotation & proposal requests from leads generated by our Direct Sales team and Partner Distributors. This will include reviewing formal detailed RFP specifications from buying customers and engineering consultants.
- Select, design and configure products and solutions according to customer specification using Alfa Laval’s configuration tools. Including resizing and redesigning of existing install base.
- Prepare offer documentation, both quotations and formal proposals as required for submittal to the customer.
- As needed for high-spec project orders, co-ordinate with our global project order Bid Engineering teams to ensure strong frontloading, which includes involvement in the cost buildup and specification review.
- Maintain sales process records in our CRM tool and other systems in a consistent and qualitative way, to support the sales process and take decisions.
- Prepare and coordinate order handover to our Order Fulfilment team, and Project Management.
- Your duties, responsibilities and reporting relationships may be enhanced or modified as business needs dictate from time to time.
Key Competencies Will Include
- Technically well-versed in the use of Excel to generate analyses and ad-hoc reports
- Able to work in an integrated ERP involvement, and to understand the interactions of the various functions and transactions and how each in turn affects results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to express ideas clearly in both written and verbal form.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the order-to-cash value stream
- Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Applied Science or Engineering Technologist diploma. Preference (though not mandatory) for Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum disciplines / competencies.
Type And Length Of Experience
- 2 to 10 years post-education in the targeted industry segments: Petroleum / Petrochemical Production and Refining. Mineral / Metal Processing and Refining, Chemical Production, and/or Pulp & Paper Production.
- Experience in an industrial B2B environment, within or closely with a sales team is an advantage
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Attributes Desired In Candidate
- A working technical knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics is an advantage.
- Insight / experience into common unit operations, and customer values in given segments.
- Experience in the formal tendering procedures for engineered equipment is a valued asset. E.g. reviewing technical specifications and drafting clarifications/deviations, reviewing and commenting a VDRL.
- Effective problem solver, a self-starter, detail oriented, service minded and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You must demonstrate excellence in verbal and written communication, good personal organization and be proficient in the use of computers.
- Ability to communicate in French (oral and written) is a highly valued asset.
