We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to manage and streamline the procurement of materials, equipment, and services across multiple construction projects. The Purchaser will ensure timely purchasing, cost-effectiveness, and supplier compliance, contributing to the smooth execution of project timelines and budgets.
This position will be based out of our Bedford, NS Office.

What You Will Be Working On:

  • Coordinate and execute centralized purchasing for all ongoing construction projects.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best terms, pricing, and quality.
  • Ensure materials and equipment are procured and delivered on time to meet project schedules.
  • Investigate alternative product options, negotiate with vendors, and expand vendor network.
  • Maintain and manage procurement schedules, purchase orders, and delivery timelines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project teams to forecast material and equipment needs.
  • Provide support to estimating team for pursuits and pricing as required
  • Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, project specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Resolve issues related to delivery delays, defective materials, or order discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Track inventory of tools and equipment on a regular basis.
  • Work within the software provided for issuing electronic purchase orders and processing vendor payments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities.
  • Capability to handle pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment. under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems or construction management software (e.g., Procore).
  • Knowledge of local suppliers and construction industry regulations.
