Supervisor, Facility Maintenance

About the role

Under the direction of the Manager, Facility Capital Delivery & Business Operations, the Supervisor, Facility Maintenance is responsible for the day to day delivery of activities of Facility Maintenance in the Facilities Services Business Unit of the Parks & Facility Services Department. This position is responsible for assisting with project management and supervision of assigned portfolio for in-house capital and maintenance projects, Develops preventative maintenance programs to ensure the optimum operation of all in-house facilities and equipment in accordance with established standards and compliance with all applicable municipal and provincial regulations. Administers property management functions and maintenance agreements for Town owned, leased properties. The position also oversees special projects (i.e. the implementation of the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) project and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) implementation).

Job Requirements

Credentials

  • Post-secondary education at a community college or professional organization in facility operation and maintenance or a combination of significant demonstrated experience and education.

  • Certification in or possession of a current trade licence in a related field would be an asset (e.g. Millwright).

  • Ministry of Labour Refrigeration “B” Licence preferred.

  • Certified Pool Operator.

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C, WHMIS, Propane Safety certification.

  • Class “G” driver’s licence in good standing and a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business

  • Due to the responsibilities of this position a Police Record Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Demonstrated responsible experience at a supervisory level. Knowledge of people management and team building, and conflict resolution.

  • Strong customer service orientation, interpersonal, consultative, organizational problem-solving, analytical and presentation skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget preparation and management.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as energy management systems.

  • Knowledge of pool and arena operations and maintenance.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of First Aid, WHMIS, propane safety, forklift operation.

  • Working knowledge of refrigeration equipment.

  • Background knowledge in mechanical areas to troubleshoot problems.

  • Ability to develop specifications and make recommendations on the purchase, and implementation of new equipment and mechanical components.

  • Ability to operate all vehicles/equipment in the facilities.

  • Working knowledge of various trades including mechanical, electrical, HVAC and energy management.

  • Knowledge sufficient to develop specifications and make recommendations on the purchase, and implementation of new equipment and mechanical components.

  • Operational knowledge and understanding of operational requirements of vehicles and/or equipment utilized in facilities.

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, bylaws, legal proceedings and the ability to interpret legislation such as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act as well as the Technical Standard Safety Authority Regulations.
