Responsibilities
Develops, implements and manages the accounting function for TransLink. Includes managing chart of account maintenance, consolidation of financial accounts and statements; audit processes; financial and entity remuneration reporting; tax return and commodity tax filings for TransLink and its subsidiaries. Also manages all related financial analysis and reporting, as well as enterprise financial information system management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develops operating plans for all areas of accountability, and also supports the Director by providing area-specific input to development of financial strategies.
Develops, implements and manages the accounting function, including general accounting, accounts payable, and all related analysis and reporting.
Manages chart of account maintenance, consolidation of financial accounts and financial statements, and interim and year-end audit processes for TransLink and its subsidiaries, acting as a primary contact for issue resolution.
Manages financial and entity remuneration reporting and tax return and commodity tax filings for TransLink and its subsidiaries, and also addresses related complex issues, escalating unresolved problems to the Director.
Manages the design, development and maintenance of the financial system and all related analysis and reporting, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and availability of critical financial information.
Develops, recommends and implements approved policies and processes for reporting areas. Includes implementing and monitoring controls to identify and mitigate risks, and to ensure compliance with policies, legislation, and accepted standards, principles and practices.
Provides financial expertise and guidance to internal user departments and subsidiaries, including interpretation and advice on impacts of policy and regulation changes. Also collaborates with finance staff in subsidiaries to manage consolidation processes.
Supports the Director in the development of presentations, reports and other financial information for executives and Audit Committee of the Board, and for input to critical reporting and planning activities. Also assists in identifying emerging issues and risks, and developing resolution for complex financial issues.
Supports change management by managing and/or participating the development and implementation of initiatives in reporting areas.
Liaises with external stakeholders and partners, including service contract providers, vendors/suppliers, municipalities, provincial government agencies, financial institutions, lawyers, consultants, external auditors and
government tax auditors.
Manages reporting staff, including selection, development, coaching, managing performance, and all other people management practices.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The requirements for this job are typically acquired through a degree in finance, plus achievement of an accounting designation, and eight years of experience in progressively responsible accounting roles.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the relevant acts and regulations.
Advanced knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices and techniques pertaining to accounting, tax, revenue, audit, and all related financial information systems and reporting.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to provides financial expertise and guidance to internal user departments and subsidiaries; and also to liaise with a wide variety of external stakeholders, partners and government agencies.
Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to identify, mitigate and resolve risks, gaps, and issues pertaining to area of accountability.
Solid leadership skills, including selection, development, coaching, managing performance, and all other people management practices.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Rate of Pay
The salary for this position ranges from 107,200 - $160,800 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
