The Trades Generalist possesses a valid trade license in heating and refrigeration. The Trades Generalist supports the efficient day to day operation of the physical plant by maintaining and repairing equipment, maintaining and making repairs to the physical plant, and providing expertise in their area of specialty. These functions are performed within a team environment that includes licensed trades persons, maintenance assistants, project coordinator and director.

REQUIREMENTS**:**

Certificate of qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning System Mechanic 313A
-
Gas Technician G1 or G2 license
-
High school diploma

Previous experience in a hospital or large-scale building maintenance an asset

Experience with Building Automation System (BAS) an asset

Knowledge of relevant codes and standards
-
Ability to work with blueprints, drawings, schematic diagrams and layouts

Ability to shift priorities with minimal disruption
-
Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
-
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in oral and written format with supervisors, colleagues, and other members of the health care team

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Demonstrated diagnostic and problem-solving skills

Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.

Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
