About the role

The Vancouver School Board welcomes applications for the position of: Permanent Supervision Aide Hours: 2.5 hours per day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Working Months : September to June each year

Salary: $582.36 biweekly (plus 5.8% allowance for statutory holidays)

Location : Permanent positions are currently available at the following schools: Queen Elizabeth Elementary.

In this role you will be:

  • Responsible for supervising students during recess and lunch, indoors and outdoors, in all kinds of weather.
  • Ensuring student safety and that students comply with school rules.
  • Intervening in potentially unsafe play situations and facilitate conflict resolutions between students.
  • Required to supervise students between recess and lunch, ensuring appropriate behaviour and completion of teacher assigned work.
  • Walking and standing for the duration of the shift, which is mostly outdoors.
  • Required to circulate the school grounds, focus on your surroundings and remain alert at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in large groups
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather
  • Ability to speak languages common to ESL students is an asset
