A Bell Captain is a senior member of the hotel’s front-of-house team responsible for supervising bell staff and ensuring guests receive efficient, courteous luggage and arrival/departure services. They play a key role in creating a positive first and last impression of the hotel.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
- Must be eligible to work in Canada - can provide SIN documentation
- Previous experience in hospitality (bell attendant or concierge experience preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required.
- Exceptional conflict resolution, and objection handling skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Physical ability to lift heavy luggage.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work different shift Morning and Evening including working on weekends and public holidays
Job duties
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure
- Assist with luggage handling and storage
- Escort guests to rooms and explain room features
- Provide information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions
- Arrange transportation (taxis, shuttle transfers coordination)
- Supervise and schedule bell staff
- Assign duties and monitor performance
- Train new bell attendants
- Ensure staff grooming and uniform standards are maintained
- Maintain records of luggage movement
- Prepare staff schedules
- Report maintenance issues in lobby areas
- Assist with VIP guest arrangements
- .Coordinate group arrivals and departures
- Maintain luggage storage area and tagging system
- Handle guest requests promptly
- .Manage lost-and-found items according to hotel policy
