Explore Your Next Role

As a key member of the Maintenance team, the Composite Supervisor is responsible

for leading and overseeing all composite repair and manufacturing activities within the composite shop while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, compliance, and operational efficiency. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Directly supervise composite technicians and apprentices. 

  • Assign daily workloads and prioritize tasks to meet production schedules and operational requirements. 

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance feedback to employees. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and collective agreements, where applicable. 

  • Conduct daily shift handovers, toolbox talks, and team meetings. 

Production & Operations

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor composite repair and manufacturing activities. 

  • Ensure all work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards. 

  • Effectively allocate labour, tooling, equipment, and materials. 

  • Monitor workflow and resolve technical, production, and resource-related issues. 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and productivity. 

Quality Assurance

  • Verify that all repairs and manufacturing processes meet engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements. 

  • Ensure strict adherence to approved repair schemes, engineering drawings, specifications, and maintenance manuals. 

  • Review completed work packages, maintenance records, and supporting documentation. 

  • Coordinate inspections and address quality findings, discrepancies, and corrective actions. 

Safety & Compliance

  • Foster and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the composite shop. 

  • Conduct workplace inspections and hazard assessments. 

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of composite materials and hazardous substances. 

  • Investigate incidents and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. 

  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards, including Transport Canada, FAA, EASA, and company requirements. 

Technical Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance related to composite repairs and manufacturing processes. 

  • Troubleshoot complex structural, material, and manufacturing issues. 

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of shop equipment, including ovens, vacuum systems, tooling, and curing equipment. 

  • Support the implementation of new repair methods, technologies, and best practices. 

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and material consumption. 

  • Coordinate procurement of consumables, tooling, and equipment. 

  • Ensure calibration and maintenance requirements for shop equipment are met. 

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. 

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, quality, and compliance records. 

  • Prepare reports related to productivity, staffing, quality metrics, and safety performance. 

  • Track work progress and communicate updates to management and customers. 

  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections. 

Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success

The ideal candidate will possess

  • Post-secondary education in Aircraft Structures or a related field. 
  • Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) – Structures (S) License. 
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). 
  • Required SCA/ACA certification. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to identify solutions. 
  • Capable of working under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience supervising composite repair and manufacturing activities is considered a strong asset. 

Eligibility

You must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company (e.g., be a Canadian

citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a clear Criminal Background Check.

Location and other Key Details

  • You will work out of our North Bay head office.
  • This position starts at $52.28/hour, with compensation commensurate with experience.
