Job Summary The Intermodal Clerk is responsible for coordinating and executing terminal operations, including assigning units to railcars, ramping and de-ramping containers, and managing pad activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Assign units to railcars
- Ramp outbound units and de-ramp inbound units
- Seed, strip, place, and release pads
- Prepare various reports
- Call overtime as needed
- Apply and release reefer and dimensional holds
- Perform administrative duties
Working Conditions
- The role requires working indoors for administrative tasks and outdoors operational duties in various environmental conditions
- The role requires the ability to handle dangerous goods
- Must be able to work with various software systems and reporting tools
- Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)
- The role works in a shift-based environment that includes days, afternoons, and nights
- This role is required to work in a 24/7 environment including weekend and holidays
Requirements
- Certified in Automated Gate System (AGS)
- Valid Dangerous Goods Handling Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License
- Qualified Ramper with knowledge of preparing ramp reports
- Thorough knowledge of computer and clerical procedures at the Intermodal Terminal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of import and export traffic
- Knowledge of i-PRO, OASIS Terminal Operating System, Service Reliability Systems (SRS), Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), Real-Time Business Intelligence, and Lotus Notes
- Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (French, English)
- Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
Training The incumbent will receive on-the-job training at the Brampton location. Training will begin with two weeks on the day shift, followed by rotations through the afternoon and night shifts to ensure full exposure to all three schedules.
