About the role

The Promotions Sales Associates function is primarily Customer Service; the ability to retrieve carts on an ongoing basis in a safe and efficient manner ; assist with carryout of merchandise that may be up to 75lbs in weight, all while providing customer service and ensuring regular maintenance is being conducted.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Customer Service

  • Provides excellent customer service to all customers entering the store
  • Smiles, makes eye contact and greets customers.
  • Guides customers to the locations of requested items.
  • Locates products in the warehouse
  • Responds to and handles customer enquiries, requests and concerns in a timely manner, over the phone and in person.
  • Deals with challenging situations in a professional manner.
  • Keeps up to date with in-store promotions, in-store deals and product locations.

OPERATIONS

  • Ensures that retail basic tasks are executed efficiently (stocking, labels, facing etc.)

  • Stocks shelves and merchandise display areas using modules and planograms as guidelines.

  • Fills aisle side panels, and bases

  • Ensure all items are signed and located

  • Operate computers and EFD's proficiently, as your main tools

  • Retrieve on line orders and assist customers at pickup

  • Performs cart and carryout duties as a main part of your regular tasks

  • Engages in learning activities and listens to feedback to improve

  • Complies with company, store and department policies

  • Abides by all health and safety regulations. Reports any observed or potential hazards immediately.

  • Uses professional language and maintains a professional appearance (Uniform, hygiene, grooming and nametag) when interacting with others.

  • Completes other tasks, as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic math, and typing skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English (eg probing, listening etc.) and the ability to maintain professional communication, even in challenging situations.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with computerized systems

  • Previous Canadian Tire retail experience is an ASSET

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Positive attitude, reliability, punctuality and solid work ethic are essential

  • Ability to adapt and cope with challenging and changing situations

  • Highly approachable, customer-orientated individual who thrives on offering exceptional service to customers

  • Ability to complete retail tasks according to instructions and to demonstrate responsibility for outcomes

  • Strong belief in the Canadian Tire Values of honesty, integrity and respect.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDTIONS

  • Standing /walking for 8 hrs.
  • Lifting and/or carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis. Merchandise item may vary in weight from "light" to "heavy" - up to 75 lbs.
  • Lifting and turning repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Lifting above the shoulder, from floor to shoulder and floor to waist.
  • Ability to go up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise.
  • Walking and carrying things at the same time and pushing/pulling as required.
