Annual salary: 1,792.24 - $2,257.45 biweekly

The location for this position for the summer term is: Edmonds Office 6911 Southpoint Dr, Burnaby, BC V3N 4X8.
As our Geomatics Co-op student, you will learn and experience:

Perform a variety of practical, hands-on work experience directly related to Geomatics.

Learning and training opportunities, including opportunities to network with your division.

Learn all about other divisions and initiatives at BC Hydro.

Take advantage of the opportunity to explore future career options.

Participate in high value, multi-disciplinary project work and gain valuable insight into the organization and implementation
of large capital projects. Gain exposure to the exciting and increasingly growing hydro electric industry.
Our ideal candidate can adapt and learn new principles and concepts in a dynamic technical environment, demonstrates a
commitment to excellent customer service, and a strong work ethic.
<Duties>- Performs a variety of GIS tasks to complete mapping/geospatial projects, including: researching, selecting and evaluating
map source data; preparing and revising maps; applying GIS tools and scripts to manipulate vector and raster datasets;
editing and cleaning geospatial datasets based on topological rules; editing and updating web apps and maps.

Identifying and resolving source document and spatial data conflicts, and updating information to ensure accuracy of data.

Performing data analysis, queries, and cartographic data visualization using a variety of computer languages and
programs, such as ArcPro and FME.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of quality control procedures, visual output standards, and in-house
procedures
- Verifying and checking data to ensure continuity, integrity and compliance with standards; compiling, enhancing and
digitizing source information for the creation of various resource themes, databases, spatial products and related models.
What you bring
- To qualify as a candidate, individuals must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Canada in Geomatics,
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field such as Geography and Computer Science.

Knowledge of GIS systems, policies, procedures, and basic programming methods and principles
-
Experience with ESRI software suite (ArcPro, ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, Web AppBuilder / Experience Builder)
is an asset

Experience with FME Desktop software or Hexagon/Intergraph technology is also considered a strong asset.

Strong communication skills, highly motivated and results oriented.

Knowledge of applied geography, projections, coordinate systems, datums, cartographic principles, documentation of
applications and metadata.

Basic knowledge of spatial database development, functionality, and applications.

Strong working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
What we offer

As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.

All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight
months.
- Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary.
