Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Controller, the Costing and Customer Orders Technician is responsible for managing customer orders and coordinating production work orders. The role also involves tracking costs, labour hours, and subcontracting, as well as producing monthly analytical reports.

More specifically, the incumbent will:

  • Create and maintain customer orders (sales orders);
  • Determine applicable “prepaid and charge” transportation amounts for orders;
  • Create work orders and maintain planned production hours and all related information;
  • Deduct subcontracting hours as orders are sent to subcontractors;
  • Assign welding hours to welded assemblies;
  • Manage the transfer of costs in Tavis for Rock-Anchor and Hydro One inventory items;
  • Investigate cost variances as needed;
  • Produce the monthly order backlog;
  • Prepare selected cost tracking reports;
  • Produce month-end work-in-progress analysis.

The above list of duties is not exhaustive. In the course of their work, the employee may be required to perform other related tasks consistent with their role and capabilities.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • College diploma in Administration or equivalent;
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (an asset);
  • Strong sense of initiative and responsibility;
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills;
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
