About the role

Contract Position: November 3, 2025 - March 12, 2027

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The Clinical Educator is a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Nurse who combines clinical expertise and a passion for excellent patient care into his or her practice. The Clinical Educator promotes a positive work environment by being visible and available to all levels of staff.  The Clinical Educator works collaboratively with Clinical Managers in maintaining productivity and supporting hospital initiatives.

The Clinical Educator assists in identifying staff development needs and gaps in professional practice with an emphasis on evidence-based practice, education and ongoing evaluation and sustainability. A focus on staff development, quality practices and educational programming across the service areas to enhance care delivery is required. This role will advance professional practice through leadership, learning and development and assisting staff in the integration of best practices in their daily work.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN) required, master’s degree in nursing (MScN) or related field preferred.
  • 4-5 years’ recent surgical clinical experience required.
  • Actively involved in professional organizations associated with professional nursing practice, such as Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), Canadian Nurses Association (CNA). Membership in RNAO required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and personal drive to achieve results, and the ability to focus one’s attention on accomplishing key objectives and positive outcomes for oneself and one’s team
  • Champions a culture of patient safety in the program, aligned with corporate priority
  • Ensures service practices across the program comply with professional standards
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, confidently and directly and work through conflicts and differences in a respectful way
  • Ability to understand the feelings, concerns and needs of other people, demonstrate care and interest towards them and establish and maintain productive relationships
  • Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence and self-reflection.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in current, evidence-based methods and practices in the area of nursing expertise
  • Knowledge and proficiency to develop and conduct educational opportunities/programs/curriculum for learners, and experience in evaluation of learning activities specific to individual performance and an understanding of adult learning principles
  • Proficient in the use of computer hardware and software (Microsoft Suite, CERNER, EPR, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in an active work environment
  • Physical ability to carry out the essential duties of the position
  • Ability to regularly attend work in accordance with the Attendance Support Program
  • Acceptable performance record that is aligned with STEGH values and Code of Conduct

WHAT WE PREFER YOU TO HAVE:

  • One (1) year experience utilizing adult education principles
  • Recent leadership experience as a Clinical Resource Nurse/Team Lead
  • Completion of Crucial Conversations/Managing Dialogue
  • Completion of the Aspiring Leader Program
  • Completion of Yellow Belt
  • Recent experience teaching in classroom and clinical setting
  • Certificate in adult education
  • Recent experience with wound care/ostomy care and/or additional education

HOURS:

The successful candidate must be available to work on all tours applicable to the department. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department and be able to commit to the non-availability standards outlined in the Collective Agreement.
