About the role
Description:
As a member of a dynamic development team, the Intermediate HW designer will be responsible for design, testing and delivery to manufacturing of carrier-grade Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE)
What You’ll Do
- Work together with hardware engineers, software engineers and system architects to deliver high-quality designs
- Coordinate and lead various aspects of board-level design, specification, verification, and implementation for OLT circuit packs
- Work with third-party Suppliers to guide the design of the product through procurement specifications.
- Coordinate and lead life cycle management of products' BOMs
- Define technical specifications to support design concepts, and collaborate in peer specification reviews
- Interface with component vendors and negotiate design specifications with external suppliers
- Develop and execute test plans, and review results with peers
- Support the technology transfer to manufacturing/production testing
- Support Component Engineering efforts during and after design cycles
- Oversee the development of automated product test stations, review test results.
- Investigate customer HW related issues
Requirements:
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent coupled with 3+ years' experience in digital, optical RF, or Wi-Fi network equipment design
- Experience with board-level development utilizing high-speed digital circuits
- Experience with hardware debugging tools - analyzers, scopes, emulators
- Experience using a variety of high-speed lab equipment (e.g. Spectrum Analyzers – SNR measurements; high-speed signal analysis and probing)
Assets You May Possess
- Experience with carrier-grade system requirements and high-speed WiFi systems would be an asset
- Experience with design capture tools like Mentor Graphics -DX Designer, Expedition would be an asset
- Experience with a variety of telecommunications standards would be an asset
- Experience with high-speed digital devices and RF signal analysis would be an asset
- Experience with scripting languages would be an asset
