Vice-President, Data Governance & Enablement
About the role
##Position Summary
A strategic and collaborative role, the Vice-President, Data Governance & Enablement leads Cambrian’s enterprise data governance program. This role ensures that member and operational data is well-managed, trusted, and used responsibly to support regulatory compliance, risk management, operational efficiency, and member-focused innovation. The Vice-President, Data Governance & Enablement will act as Cambrian’s Data Leader, accountable for establishing and governing data policies, enabling high-quality data usage across the business, and advancing the organization's maturity in data management, analytics, and enablement.
The role builds and drives Cambrian’s data governance framework, oversees data stewardship practices, and partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to embed data governance into all key initiatives – ensuring data is both protected and fully leveraged to improve member experience and decision-making. This role also involves building and leading a high-performing data enablement team to support data literacy, stewardship, and responsible access across the organization.

###Data Strategy & Leadership

Lead Cambrian’s enterprise data strategy and governance program, aligned with business goals, regulatory obligations and strategic priorities.

Provide strategic direction and oversight for data governance and quality initiatives.

Chair the Data Steering Committee, acting as a key member of Cambrian’s data leadership team in shaping data priorities that support business growth.
###Data Governance

Mature or establish policies and standards for data quality, privacy, classification, security, and lifecycle management across all data domains.

Work with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Strategy, Governance & Risk Officer (CSGRO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Vice-President, Information Technology Operations & Security (VP, IT Ops & Sec) to ensure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

Establish enterprise data domains and roles such as data stewards and data owners across business units.
###Data Management & Enablement

Oversee enterprise data domains, metadata management, master/reference data, and data lifecycle practices.

Establish and lead the data enablement team; work together with the data enablement team, CFO, CIO, and VP, IT Ops & Sec to implement a high-quality data platform, data cataloging, classification, and quality monitoring tools.

Ensure data lineage, metadata, and classification are consistently captured and maintained across all enterprise systems.

Drive data literacy and training programs, fostering business ownership of data and collaboration between business, data and IT.

Build communities of practice for analysts and power users across business functions.

Champion a culture of data trust and accountability to support digital transformation, member personalization, and performance reporting.
###Collaboration & Execution

Partner with business, Business Intelligence (BI) and technology teams to operationalize data strategy.

Work with BI to lead enterprise initiatives requiring integrated data (e.g., performance dashboards, Artificial Intelligence pilots, regulatory reporting).

Collaborate closely with enterprise compliance, the privacy office and IT security to align governance and enablement with both innovation, member service, growth and protection goals.
##Education & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business, or related field.

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DCAM, or equivalent preferred.

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in data governance, data management, or analytics.

Proven experience establishing and scaling enterprise data governance programs.

Proven experience building and leading a data enablement team, including data stewards, governance analysts, and tooling specialists, to drive adoption and ensure business value from data assets.

Visionary thinker with strong execution skills.

Deep understanding of data architecture, lineage, quality, privacy, and compliance.

Collaborative leader capable of influencing across business and technical domains.

Strong communication, facilitation, and change management skills.
