Canteen and Kitchen General Help Full Time at Prince George Correction Center
About the role
How you will make an impact:
You must have the ability to work within multiple departments with a variety of skills. You will complete a variety of duties in the preparation and distribution of meals as well as packaged product orders to service units as per the requirements of that Correctional Center. As well as sanitation and cleaning tasks.
As a General Help in Canteen services, you will:
- Must have week-day availability
- Perform weekly inventory.
- Receive weekly canteen orders, process orders through cash register and enter totals onto excel spread sheet.
- Portion and weigh condiments and products for usage.
- Accurately package orders for designated clients.
- Have a strong ability to work alone with time sensitive tasking.
In the Kitchen area:
- Wash, peel, and cut of fruits and vegetables per the preparation schedule.
- Prepare, cook or pan food as per prep schedule
- Count, weigh and measure ingredients for assigned food production area
- Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
- Portion meal trays and special diet trays as per meal schedule
- Load, deliver, collect and unload meal service carts to the pods
- Perform general cleaning duties including carts, trolleys, dishes and pots.
- Maintain storage areas in a clean and orderly manner
- Work efficiently and handle all equipment and products safely
- Perform other duties during off-service hours as required.
- Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management in a suitable time-frame
About you:
Grade 12, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Must pass and maintain a clean criminal record

Possess a Food Safe level 1 certificate or provincial equivalent

Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal in the English language

Physical ability to perform all job-related tasks

Ability to operate all related equipment

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, and organizational skills

Must practice good personal hygiene

Must be able to effectively give and receive instructions
The hourly wage rate for this position is $19.09, with a $0.50 hourly premium for canteen services.
