About the Workplace
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Consultant, Corporate Insurance to lead the design and implementation of Vancity’s enterprise-wide insurance program. This role oversees policy management across property, cyber, liability, bonding, and other coverage areas, facilitates renewals, and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Vancity’s Risk Management Frameworks. The Consultant ensures insurance practices are well-organized, transparent, and compliant with regulatory requirements and operational needs.
This is a Permanent role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland-based home office. This role may require you to work on-site once a week.
A typical day would involve:
- Managing the full insurance renewal lifecycle across all coverage policies, acting as a strategic partner with external brokers, analyzing claims, challenging coverage limits, and monitoring premium trends to identify risks and optimize insurance strategies.
- Interpreting British Columbia Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) Business Continuity and Resilience guidelines and insurance regulations, applying Second Line of Defense principles to frameworks, policies, procedures, and tools.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining Vancity’s Corporate Insurance program, including impact assessment due diligence and calculations for vendor arrangements.
- Overseeing insurance-related action plans by 1st lines to close capability gaps and ensure adherence to Vancity’s risk tolerances, governance standards, frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Benchmarking policy terms and costs against market standards to support recommendations for coverage adjustments and cost efficiencies.
- Maintaining and enhancing dashboards and quarterly reports to monitor renewal status, claims experience, coverage gaps, and key cost drivers, including comparisons of market rates and loss history.
- Partnering with Finance to support annual forecasting and insurance cost modeling by analyzing historical premiums, renewal impacts, and projected exposures.
- Designing and maintaining Corporate Insurance-related Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for management and Board committees.
- Acting as the primary strategic partner and liaison between internal teams and external providers to ensure value, ethical alignment, timely communication, and appropriate insurance requirements.
- Monitoring regulatory and stabilization fund expectations to maintain compliance in policy documentation and claims processes.
- Supporting internal audits, external insurer reviews, and corporate reporting standards related to insurance exposures and risk mitigation.
- Developing and maintaining insurance reference materials, renewal playbooks, and workflows to ensure program consistency and awareness.
You have:
- A university degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate insurance, risk management, or financial forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of insurance regulations, OSFI and BCFSA guidelines, and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Experience managing insurance renewals, claims analysis, and vendor assessments.
- Proficiency in developing dashboards, reports, and insurance cost models.
- Certifications such as CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional), CRM (Canadian Risk Management), or equivalent are considered assets.

The salary range for this role is $81,200 - $122,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
