About The South Huron Hospital (SHH):

We serve the Municipality of South Huron and its adjacent communities—a catchment area of approximately 19,000 residents. The hospital is located in the village of Exeter, approximately 30 minutes north of London, and provides 24/7 emergency services in addition to acute, rehabilitation and complex continuing care inpatient services and various diagnostic and ambulatory services. Our staff also supports family practice and walk-in care at the South Huron Medical Centre. As a small rural hospital, we cherish the relationship we have with our community and pledge uncompromising standards to those we serve.

Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician is accountable for overall management and success of pharmacy support services at the hospital. Specifically, the role fucuses on:

  • Medication distribution/dispensing
  • Pharmacy related material management support
  • Project management
  • Implementation and monitoring of safe medication practices
  • Collaboration with the Pharmacist, external providers, and with vendors

This position will supplement our full-time Pharmacy Coordinator and will provide coverage for vacations, absences, etc. The schedule is inclusive of day shifts on weekdays only (no weekends).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' hospital pharmacy experience, including inventory ordering and unit dose packaging

  • Pharmacy Technician/Assistant Diploma from a recognized college

  • Registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

  • Previous experience with Cerner systems and order entry required. Computer literate and comfortable working with technology

  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Accreditation requirements and direct support and involvement in the accreditation process

  • Demonstrated ability to succeed as a member of a team and while working independently. Takes initiative and organizes competing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to respond quickly to address issues

  • Familiar with narcotic and controlled drug legislation and application of same in the hospital setting

  • Drug purchasing and inventory control experience

  • Demonstrated project management success

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills

  • Demonstrated excellence in attendance

  • Understanding and use of good body mechanics

  • Current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen and immunization status required upon hire

Immunization Records: Successful candidates must provide evidence of fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work.
