Tutor in the Classroom - Secondary
About the role
Are you looking to earn some extra money and gain valuable experience working with students? We may just have the opportunity for you!
The Tutor in the Classroom Student Success Initiative supports all Niagara Catholic secondary schools in offering extra help to students who are not yet achieving the provincial standard in mathematics and/or literacy. Secondary Student Success Teams will schedule tutors to support secondary students and/or classes that are facing barriers to success.
The successful tutor candidate(s) will have completed a university degree or be currently enrolled in a university program.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Possess a strong understanding of secondary school mathematics
- Excellent literacy and communication skills
- Be willing to work with students with different capabilities
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
- Provide numeracy/literacy support for emerging learners in consultation with Student Services Staff, Classroom Teacher, Educational Resource Teacher and/or Student Success Teacher
- Flexibility in location
- Tutor(s) will be scheduled based on their availability and school needs between the hours of 8:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Maximum of twenty (20) hours per week
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Tutors will work in an assigned school for the entire 2025-26 school year.
- The successful candidate(s) will be required to submit a Criminal Reference (Vulnerable Sector Screening) Check, prior to the first day of placement
- Flexibility on school location
RATE OF PAY: $20.00 per hour
