OBJECTIVE: Suntrac Wellness & Addiction Treatment Centre is seeking a part-time Addiction Worker to deliver concurrent-informed substance use services to men aged 19 and older with substance use problems. In collaboration with clients and the Suntrac team, you will provide intake and assessment, case management, group facilitation, and consultative and educational services to service users. As we continue to implement evidence-based practices, you will be open to participating in a dynamic learning environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrated competence in assessment, case management, group facilitation, and documentation practices in client care.
- Promote the efficient and effective daily operation of the program within the guidelines and policies of Mission Services and in consultation with the Assistant Director and Supervisor of Program.
- Demonstrate person-centered and empowerment practices, and trauma-informed care.
- Knowledge and experience: with evidence-based practice in the treatment of substance use and mental health problems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, stages of change and motivational interviewing, mindfulness and relapse prevention; structured decision-making practices; and concurrent disorder-informed practice.
- Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by individuals experiencing substance use and mental health problems.
- Ability to screen for concurrent mental health problems
- Ability to complete assessment for harmful substance use, suicide risk, and risk management planning.
- Familiarity and liaison with current resources in substance use, mental health, and human services.
- Ability to coordinate effective linkages with other health, justice, education, social service, and community agencies as needed.
- Being active ambassadors for Mission Services Addiction Services programs.
- Committed to uphold the organization’s mission, values and standards
- Work safely, identify any health and safety concerns and report to management, and follow Mission Services workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Adhere to a strict policy of confidentiality.
- Other duties as required to ensure the continuation of service to clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent) in social work, psychology, or a related human service field
- Experience and/or education in Concurrent Disorders is an asset
- One year (or equivalent) of professionally supervised work in the delivery of services in substance use and/or mental health
- CCAC certified or working towards obtaining accreditation with CACCF is an asset
- The ability to work with individuals of diverse and marginalized populations
- Familiarity with harm reduction framework with substance use and mental health.
- Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution with distress individuals
- Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational and time management skills
- Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Must be a confident decision-maker
- The ability to work remotely and in office to provide virtual and in-person services
COMPENSATION:
- $25.60 Hourly Wage
HOURS OF WORK:
- 6-10 hours per week
REQUIREMENTS:
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Two-Step Tuberculosis Skin Test
