Our organization consists of two entities, Tikva Housing and Tikva Rental. Tikva Housing
Society (“THS”) is a charitable non-profit housing society that provides access to innovative and
affordable housing solutions, primarily for Jewish individuals and families. Tikva Rental Housing
Society (“TRHS”) is a non-profit housing society that acquires, constructs, holds, supplies, and
operates/manages and/or maintains housing accommodations and incidental facilities for low-
and moderate-income families and individuals.
Tikva is seeking a full-time Controller responsible for managing and overseeing daily accounting
activities. The key areas of responsibility include financial management, internal controls &
compliance, leadership & supervision, and departmental collaboration. This position will prepare
accurate and timely financial statements and present them to senior management, support the
audit and budgeting processes as well as oversees the work of the Finance department. This
position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Director of Operations and the Finance Committee.
Qualifications:
Manager in a leadership or people-management capacity with experience in internal
controls and financial oversight.
• Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a designation
as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
• Minimum 3-5 years of recent accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit housing
or real estate sectors.
• Advanced experience working with QuickBooks Online and Office 365.
• Must be bondable with a high degree of accountability.
• Strong analytical skills in interpreting data and financial trends.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written reports, and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of the Jewish community in British Columbia is an asset. Compensation:
• Full-time salary position earning $85,000 - $95,000 per annum, based on qualifications
and experience.
• This is an in-office position, working 37.5 hours/ week. Operating hours are Monday to
Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, paid
vacation, a health spending account, and RRSP matching.
• Paid parking included.
• In addition to statutory holidays, time off is provided for some Jewish holidays when they
fall on a workday.
