Job Summary: Responsible for purchasing and managing the inventory of specialty grocery products.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure specialty grocery products that aligning with the brand, quality standards, and customer preferences
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and local producers
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize profitability and freshness
• Monitor inventory levels and manage purchasing to ensure appropriate stock levels
• Conduct regular product reviews to assess sales performance and make adjustments as needed
• Stay informed on current trends in specialty food, organic/natural products, and consumer demands
• Collaborate with marketing to promote new and seasonal items
• Ensure all products meet food safety standards and are properly labeled
• Manage purchase orders, invoices, and related administrative tasks efficiently
• Attend vendor meetings to identify new opportunities
• Travelling between locations to assist with merchandising execution is required
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a buyer or purchasing manager in the grocery or specialty food industry
• In-depth knowledge of specialty grocery categories and suppliers
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Competent computer skills, Google Applications experience is preferred
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and purchasing software, CSB is an asset
• Proven ability to analyze sales data and trends to inform buying decisions
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment
• Must hold a valid G2 or G driver's licence
