CSR - Hospitality - Student Work Study job opportunities open to full-time Fanshawe College students who qualify for the Work Study Bursary program.
This opportunity is supported through The Work Study Employment Program, which is designed to provide work opportunities to Fanshawe College full-time post-secondary or post diploma students with a demonstrated financial need.

Summary
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) – Hospitality is a dynamic, multi functional role responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and supporting operations across several food service areas. CSRs are cross trained and scheduled in various stations—including cashier, food preparation, grill, catering support, dishwashing, and specialty food stations (Build A Bowl, Seven Seas, Grinders, CD’s)—based on operational needs.
This entry level position upholds Fanshawe Student Union’s high standards for food quality, sanitation, teamwork, and guest experience while adapting to a fast paced hospitality environment.
Weekend or holiday work is possible.
Job Duties
Customer Service & Cash Handling
- Provide friendly, prompt, and professional service to all guests.
- Take accurate orders and communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
- Operate point‑of‑sale equipment and process debit, credit, and cash transactions.
- Follow all cash‑handling and balancing procedures.
Food Preparation & Production
- Prepare food items according to recipes, portion standards, and food safety requirements.
- Support grill operations, kitchen prep, and station‑specific menu production.
- Maintain familiarity with menu items, specials, and allergen information.
- Follow safe food‑handling, hygiene, and temperature‑control procedures.
Station Service (Build‑A‑Bowl, Seven Seas, Grinders, CD’s)
- Set up, operate, and close assigned food stations.
- Assemble menu items quickly, accurately, and consistently.
- Restock products, rotate inventory, and maintain cleanliness.
Catering Support
- Assist with setup, service, and teardown for catered events.
- Provide professional food and beverage service for meetings, functions, and special events.
- Ensure smooth event execution and an excellent guest experience.
Dishwashing & Back‑of‑House Support
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen tools.
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Support kitchen cleanliness, waste management, and recycling procedures.
General Operations & Team Support
- Maintain cleanliness according to daily routines and hygiene standards.
- Float between Hospitality locations to meet staffing needs.
- Assist with training new staff when required.
- Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Fanshawe College Work Study eligibility preferred.
- Previous restaurant or café experience an asset.
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating service volumes and work under pressure.
- Willingness to be cross‑trained across all hospitality stations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safe food‑handling, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to handle customer concerns professionally and respectfully.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, email).
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
