About the role

The Human Resource Expert is a trusted advisor and strategic partner, delivering tailored HR solutions that align seamlessly with client needs and organizational goals. This role blends technical expertise, business insight, and relationship management to provide proactive, innovative, and practical support across diverse industries. By doing so, the Human Resource Expert strengthens people practices and drives sustainable business growth.

This is a client-facing position where influence, collaboration, and execution converge. The Human Resource Expert is expected to anticipate challenges, design effective solutions, and collaborate with leaders to embed HR practices that enhance culture, ensure compliance, and improve performance.

  • Executive Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to CEOs, Directors, and managers, balancing HR strategy with business priorities.
  • Employee Lifecycle: Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance, and retention practices that create engaging employee experiences.
  • Engagement & Culture: Design initiatives that strengthen morale, recognition, and productivity.
  • Workforce Planning: Identify skills gaps, support succession planning, and help organizations prepare for growth.

Employee Relations & Risk

  • Trusted HR Counsel: Provide grounded advice on sensitive employee matters with fairness and compliance.
  • Investigations: Conduct workplace investigations into complaints or misconduct with discretion and objectivity, ensuring thoroughness and impartiality.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes to restore trust and team cohesion.
  • Compliance Guidance: Ensure alignment with employment standards, occupational health and safety (OH&S), human rights, and privacy legislation.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify HR risks and recommend protective strategies.

Policy & Process Design

  • HR Foundations: Build handbooks, policies, and frameworks that create consistency and clarity.
  • Onboarding Programs: Create structured processes that set employees up for success.
  • Employee Experience: Introduce initiatives that support wellness, engagement, and recognition.
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate and streamline HR workflows for efficiency and impact.

Coaching & Culture Enablement

  • Leadership Coaching: Equip managers and executives to lead with confidence and accountability.
  • Performance Reviews: Develop systems that enable accountability and coaching.
  • Feedback & Communication: Train leaders to deliver effective feedback and engage in challenging conversations.
  • Inclusive Practices: Embed equity and inclusion into everyday processes and systems.

Compensation & Analytics

  • Benchmarking: Research pay practices and design competitive, equitable compensation structures to ensure optimal employee compensation.
  • Frameworks: Build salary bands, incentive programs, and benefits packages that attract and retain talent.
  • Data & KPIs: Track HR metrics and connect insights to business outcomes.

Training & Facilitation

  • Workshop Design & Delivery: Facilitate sessions on leadership, skills mapping, role clarity, and culture.
  • Team Alignment Tools: Utilize approaches such as affinity mapping, RACI charts, and Rose-Bud-Thorn exercises to foster clarity.
  • Employee Learning: Create sessions that build awareness, compliance, and workplace skills.

Client Service & Business Growth

  • Relationship Building: Develop strong, trust-based relationships with clients, positioning OptimaHR as a long-term strategic partner.
  • Networking: Represent OptimaHR at industry events, professional associations, and community forums to strengthen visibility and connections.
  • Business Development Support: Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and contribute to growth conversations with potential clients.
  • Brand Representation: Ensure every client interaction, deliverable, and presentation reflects OptimaHR’s professionalism and high standards.
  • Market Awareness: Stay current with HR trends, industry developments, and competitor offerings to bring fresh ideas into client conversations.

Project & Client Management

  • Portfolio Oversight: Manage deliverables across multiple clients with varying needs and timelines.
  • Proactive Communication: Provide updates, flag risks early, and maintain client trust.
  • Change Navigation: Support organizations through restructures, mergers, and growth transitions.

Toolset

  • HR Software: You’re confident working in (or learning) HRIS platforms and other client-facing systems. You can advise on selection, lead implementations, and clean up legacy systems.
  • Google Workspace: You are fluent in Docs, Sheets, and Slides. You produce high-quality reports, presentations, and frameworks that are brand-ready and easy to digest.
  • Communication Tools: Proficient in Slack, Zoom, Loom, and email to maintain connection and clarity with clients and internal teams in a remote-first environment.
  • Project & Task Management: You use ClickUp (or similar tools) to log tasks, track hours, and report progress. You understand the relationship between time, deliverables, and billing.
  • Document & Survey Tools: Able to use Typeform, Jotform, Google Forms, and HelloSign or DocuSign to build forms, collect input, and manage approvals.
