About the role
The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club (“the Club”) is one of the city’s most prestigious private racquets clubs. Located just a few minutes from downtown, the Club offers exceptional tennis, badminton, squash, fitness and aquatics programming for over 4,000 members, along with a variety of social events with upscale-casual dining in 3 restaurants.
The Club is currently seeking aFull-time Tennis Shop Attendantto join our team..
OVERVIEW:
The Sport Shop caters to members and guests including tennis, badminton, squash, aquatics, and fitness enthusiasts.
This is a full-time position with weekly shifts from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am - 6:00 pm. Additional week-day shifts may be requested to assist with inventory and other month end duties or to cover vacation with specific hours confirmed in advance according to business needs.
**Reports to:**The Athletics Director.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answering member questions about sports products (primarily tennis-related), and helping them select the best product for their needs

Phone and email correspondence
-
Answering member questions about court bookings
-
Assisting members with online court bookings while adhering to the booking and club rules at all times
-
Helping to educate members about the booking rules
-
Court monitoring and enforcing club rules (i.e. relating to appropriate attire) when needed
-
Maintaining organization of the shop including folding clothing, restocking shelves, dusting etc.

Replenish supply of tennis balls, badminton shuttles, and squash balls at Member Services as needed
-
Assisting with monthly inventory as needed
-
Perform other shop related tasks as set out by the Athletics Director
-
Various business administrative tasks as related to operating a Sport Shop
-
Assisting with Events and Tournaments as needed
-
Other administrative tasks as required
Qualifications/Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
-
A strong racquet sport background with knowledge of various products and product lines particularly related to tennis is preferred,
-
Experience in a retail environment
-
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
-
The ability to be pro-active and self-motivated
-
Experience working independently and with minimal supervision
-
Proficiency with basic computer programs, including MS Office and point of sale systems
-
Professional, friendly, positive attitude
-
Experience stringing tennis, badminton, and/or squash racquets is an asset. Training will be provided for the right candidate

Staff members are not permitted to use the club facilities and benefits are included with this full-time position.
