POSITION SUMMARY

UHN Foundation is seeking an experienced and passionate fundraiser to join the Foundation’s Leadership Giving team. Reporting to the Manager, Leadership Giving, the Development Officer will play a central role in advancing the Foundation’s mass engagement strategy for mid-level donors, expanding philanthropic support from individuals, corporations and foundations within the mid-level giving portfolio, contributing to an annual revenue goal of $5M+. The successful candidate will work closely with Leadership Giving, Marketing & Communications, Stewardship, Community Giving, and Major Gifts teams to develop and execute mass engagement initiatives and campaigns, including multi-channel fundraising activities, donor journeys, and broad-based solicitations, while also supporting the development of compelling materials, identifying and qualifying prospects, and building meaningful relationships with donors and key stakeholders. A secondary component of the role will include managing a personal portfolio of mid-level donors ($5,000–$50,000), with the majority of time dedicated to scaling and optimizing mass engagement efforts.

The ideal candidate has experience in frontline fundraising and campaign development, with a demonstrated track record in securing gifts of $5,000-$50,000. They are a self-starter and natural relationship-builder, with an ability to work well with various stakeholder groups, and effectively navigate these relationships with tact and diplomacy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Generation

Support the Senior Development Officer, Leadership Giving in the execution and continuous optimization of Leadership Giving’s mass engagement strategy, ensuring timely and effective delivery of multi-channel donor touchpoints. Collaborate closely with Community Giving, Major Gifts, Marketing & Communications, and Stewardship teams to plan, develop, and execute integrated campaigns, including video, email, direct mail initiatives that drive donor retention and revenue growth. Contribute to the development of segmented, donor-centric content and journeys that move donors through the mid-level giving pipeline at scale. Monitor and analyze campaign performance and donor trends, using data and insights to inform strategies that strengthen engagement, increase giving, and improve donor experience. Support the development of compelling fundraising materials, including proposals, stewardship reports, and campaign updates that are aligned with Leadership Giving priorities and mass outreach efforts. Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors, applying targeted and efficient cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that complement broader mass engagement efforts. Utilize prospect identification and data tools to inform segmentation, pipeline development, and campaign targeting.

Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a key partner to internal Foundation teams (Community Giving, Marketing & Communications, and Stewardship) to coordinate and execute integrated donor engagement strategies and touchpoints. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent, compelling, and donor-centered messaging across all mass communications and engagement activities. Identify and support opportunities to recognize and steward donors, ensuring thoughtful and meaningful acknowledgment of contributions. Support the execution of Leadership Giving events, campaigns, and engagement initiatives, as well as participate in donor meetings as required. Develop strong relationships with campaign teams, regularly communicating with them about funding priorities and opportunities, including leading regularly scheduled meetings, liaising between them and Foundation teams, and scheduling and participating in meetings with prospects and/or donors. Collaborate closely with Business Intelligence and Gifts Processing teams to support effective moves management, ensuring accurate tracking of donor activity, timely and precise gift processing, and reliable reporting to inform strategy and decision-making.

Data and Reporting

Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, including preparing and sharing ongoing results reports with campaign teams and Manager, Leadership Giving, adjusting the strategy as required

Administration

Coordinate with internal and external teams on phone calls, letters and email communication for mid-level donors Ensure that all relevant data and actions are entered/coded in Raiser’s Edge in a timely manner Ensure all files related to campaigns are maintained and in good working order Performs other duties as assigned or requested

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

A relevant 4-year degree or, a relevant 3-year degree/diploma combined with professional certification or, an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience. 2-5 years experience in fundraising, with a minimum of 2 years focused on annual giving, mid-level and/or major gifts fundraising. Strong knowledge of mid-level and major giving principles and best practices Strong interpersonal skills and adept at using tact, diplomacy and discretion with donors, hospital leadership and program staff, Foundation colleagues Attention to detail and excellent organizational, project and time management skills Proactive self-starter who takes initiative and thinks ahead while managing day-to-day needs Analytical, strategic and creative thinker, and constant learner who stays on top of fundraising trends and best practices Ability to set priorities, demonstrate a positive attitude, troubleshoot and problem solve independently using sound judgement Experience working in CRMs and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience working in dynamic or complex organizations is an asset Model UHN Foundation values: collaboration, integrity, accountability and inclusion Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism (IDEAA) and how it relates to the workplace and across our hospitals, as well as our diverse community of donors

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Fast-paced, service and results oriented environment May have some activity outside of the office to support meetings The Foundation has a hybrid work model. Staff will be required to be in office a minimum of 2 days per week and will be required to have a safe home office set up for the remainder of the working days (specifics to be planned with your manager). Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in all positions throughout the Foundation Shared commitment and support of the overall Foundation goals
