About the role

Description

The Barrett Centre for Quality Improvement (BCQI) is a key initiative within Unity Health Toronto’s Quality, Care Experience and Safety Portfolio, dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement (QI) at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. The BCQI supports staff, learners, and patient and family partners in advancing improvement initiatives that enhance health care outcomes.

Reporting to the BCQI Manager, the student will assist with day-to-day administrative operations, data analysis, project coordination, and communications to ensure the smooth delivery of BCQI programming. This position will provide valuable exposure to quality improvement initiatives while developing professional administrative skills.

Main Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to the Barrett Centre Manager, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes Assist with data entry for QI projects, formatting documents, and conducting basic research or literature reviews as required to support the BCQI Fellowship and Incubator Programs Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and briefing notes Support event coordination, including the Annual QI Symposium, workshops, and training sessions (e.g., venue booking, invitations, materials preparation) Maintain organized digital filing systems for program materials, and communications Assist with tracking and updating BCQI implementation timelines, deliverables, and key performance indicators Assist with the preparation and distribution of newsletters, and announcements to stakeholders Provide support for travel arrangements, expense tracking, and budget documentation Other duties as assigned to support the BCQI team

Learning Outcomes

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Office Administration, Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in data entry, data analysis and document preparation Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information Interest in health care quality improvement and innovation is an asset
