The Supply Chain Specialist at Parallel 49 keeps our production and packaging teams set up for success by coordinating materials, inventory, vendors, and logistics. This role makes sure the right ingredients and supplies are on hand when needed, helping us stay efficient and focused on brewing great beer. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of managing costs, staying on top of timelines, and supporting smooth day-to-day operations that align with company goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the timely and cost effective procurement of materials from new and existing supply partners.
- Maintain accurate pricing and delivery information on all purchased materials and services.
- Plan and execute all purchasing processes in line with the production plan, while adhering to inventory value targets.
- Responsible for proactively monitoring raw materials inventory and advising leadership on inventory levels to guide decision making.
- Report on slow and obsolete materials and purchasing targets.
- Execute the negotiation of purchase requisitions/orders. Adapt negotiation strategies to cope with new circumstances or issues that arise.
- Monitor the cost of materials and negotiate the best value for the company by recommending cost-savings alternatives.
- Provide timely communication to suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments and co-packing customers.
- Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function. Ability to attend local and international relevant trade shows, seminars and webinars.
- Execute the organization's purchasing plan, policies and procedures, standards and strategies.
- Propose alternate arrangement in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization.
- Execute and process claims against suppliers. Ensure the accurate processing of all debits/damages, chargebacks and transfers based on Company policies and procedures.
- Source potential suppliers and maintain strong relationships with current ones.
- Analyze and evaluate vendors/suppliers' performance to improve the purchasing process.
- Create new inventory items and maintain accurate vendor contact information, company details, and updated pricing in the ERP system.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain role.
- Post Secondary in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Procurement, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience working with an ERP system is required; NetSuite experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) principles.
- Demonstrated ability in forecasting, planning, and balancing supply with production needs.
- Strong financial acumen with advanced Excel skills and confidence working with budgets and cost analysis.
- Project management experience, including the ability to manage timelines and priorities.
- Familiarity with dielines and packaging artwork processes is considered an asset.
- Experience with lean purchasing or continuous improvement practices is a plus.
- Proven ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with business-level proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace (GSuite) and strong computer skills overall.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
