Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Finance plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily accounting operations while guiding a high-performing team through coaching, mentorship, and structured development. The Manager will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development. This role is critical in driving transformation across our finance function, with a strong focus on automation, systems implementation, process optimization, and team development to support the organization’s continued growth.
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Finance plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily accounting operations while guiding a high‑performing team through coaching, mentorship, and structured development. The Manager will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development. This role is critical in driving transformation across our finance function, with a strong focus on automation, systems implementation, process optimization, and team development to support the organization’s continued growth.
We’re seeking a strategic finance leader with a CPA designation, strong accounting expertise, and a demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
-Hybrid working model based out of our Winnipeg, MB office, with three days in-office per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a high-performing accounting team, supporting professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and tailored development plans
- Takes a hands-on role in managing core finance and accounting functions including month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliation, and Accounts Payable/Receivable processes.
- Oversee daily cash management activities, including bank transactions, deposits, withdrawals, fund transfers, premium applications, and management of banking relationships.
- Assist with tax related inquiries and verify the accuracy of financial reports and tax calculations generated from proprietary systems.
- Drive the identification and implementation of process automation and optimization initiatives to enhance efficiency and support scalable growth. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lead transformative change.
- Collaborate cross functionally and manage internal and external resources to ensure alignment and optimal performance.
- Coordinate with auditors and oversee the preparation and review of required audit documentation.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Director, Finance to support evolving departmental needs.
Qualifications
- CPA designation required, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Minimum of 5 years in a direct people leadership role, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams
- Demonstrated success in finance transformation initiatives, including systems implementation and automation projects
- Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience managing cross-functional relationships
- The ability to influence others, create alignment, generate commitment to goals and inspire others to action while managing diverse stakeholder groups and multiple change initiatives
- Proficiency in process improvement methodologies and advanced Excel skills
- Insurance industry experience is a significant asset
