Raise is currently hiring a Data Governance Analyst (SAP S/4HANA) on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

We are seeking a hands-on, execution-focused Data Governance Analyst to support a large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementation project. In this role, you will play a critical operational role in capturing business requirements, establishing robust data governance standards, and ensuring high-quality, compliant data across key enterprise domains. This is an individual contributor role for a proven "do-er" who thrives in execution rather than high-level strategy or team management (as leadership coverage is already in place). You will work directly with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams across a large-scale energy enterprise to define data ownership, execute data cleansing and validation, and support both project readiness and long-term data sustainability.

Establish & Maintain Standards: Define, document, and operationalize data governance policies and standards for SAP master data objects. Enable Data Migration: Lead hands-on data cleansing, validation, profiling, and reconciliation activities for the master data governance tool implementation. Track & Drive Quality: Develop, monitor, and report on key data quality KPIs and metrics to ensure compliance and migration readiness.

Responsibilities

Governance & Ownership: Define and document data governance policies, business rules, and standards for core SAP data objects (e.g., Asset Data, Material Masters, Customer, Vendor, Finance). Support data ownership and stewardship models across energy and operations business domains. Hands-On Migration Support: Actively execute data profiling, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation tasks required for data migration and master data governance tool deployment. Stakeholder Engagement & Workshops: Facilitate structured workshops with functional teams (Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance) to drive cross-functional alignment on data definitions, rules, and governance workflows. Audit & SOX Compliance: Review SOX compliance documentation and collaborate directly with control/audit teams to gather and embed SOX requirements into data workflows. Metadata & Tool Management: Maintain data structures, metadata, and documentation within approved data catalogues. Support the day-to-day configuration and workflow usage of data governance platforms. Project Execution & Closure: Work closely with cross-functional IT and business leads to track deliverables, ensure data readiness, and complete formal sign-offs through project closure.

Qualifications

3–7 years of direct, hands-on experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles within a large, complex corporate environment Direct experience supporting or working within SAP S/4HANA implementations, with a strong understanding of core master data domains (Asset/Operations Data, Material Masters, Customer, Vendor, Finance Demonstrated track record as a hands-on contributor who focuses on executing tactical deliverables, data profiling, and validation tasks Technical Skills Strong knowledge of SAP tables, data structures, and navigating SAP transactions (e.g., SE16N). Experience with data profiling, data cleansing, and data quality validation frameworks using advanced Excel and data analysis tools. Hands-on familiarity with data governance, metadata, or master data tools (e.g., SAP MDG, Prospecta MDO, Microsoft Purview, SAP DataSphere, or Information Steward). Strong foundational understanding of databases, data modeling, and ETL/migration processes.

Soft Skills & Stakeholder Management

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with proven ability to navigate large, matrixed organizations. Demonstrated ability to lead technical/business workshops, drive consensus among competing priorities, and translate complex business requirements into concrete data rules. High analytical rigor with a structured approach to problem-solving and task prioritization.

Preferred Experience

Direct experience in energy, utilities, oil & gas, or linear asset/operations environments, with familiarity in how industrial assets and material masters are governed. (Candidates from other highly regulated sectors like finance may be considered if exceptionally strong in SAP S/4HANA, data governance tools, and stakeholder engagement). Knowledge of regulatory compliance, SOX controls, and data privacy requirements in a regulated energy environment.

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
