Position Summary:
The Campus Store is committed to offering robust experiential learning opportunities to all casual employees. As a Sales Assistant A, you will gain real life experience in a retail environment. This will include learning to work as a team to offer quality service and products to the McGill Community.

Description:
The Sales Assistant A position, involves performing many tasks, such as:

  • Customer Service (which includes, but is not limited to):
  • Greeting customers in a friendly manner
  • Ensuring customer and staff safety
  • Ensuring customers leave with a lasting positive impression
  • Assisting in the many facets of order fulfillment process which include, but are not limited to:
  • Finding and gathering all items on the web orders assigned to you
  • Verifying that all items picked are correct
  • Preparing & packing, in a timely manner, all orders that need to be shipped or picked up
  • Handing out web orders and modifying the status of web orders
  • Shelving books, folding/hanging clothes, restocking and merchandising
  • Pricing products, ensuring that all product codes are correct, lifting 30lbs boxes and bins
  • Processing sales transactions, looking up products in the database
  • Other duties assigned
  • Shifts assigned are expected to range between 3 and 8 hours per week.

Requirements:

  • Must be a McGill student
  • Must be available for 2 days of training
  • Must be a self-starter, punctual, organized, efficient and detail oriented
  • Must be fluent in English; the ability to speak French is an asset
  • Must be able to lift boxes of up to 30lbs
  • Must wear pants and sturdy, closed-toed shoes
  • Prior experience as a cashier, in customer service, and in shipping is an asset

Supporting cross-departmental efforts and initiatives, specifically working alongside SHHS teams, like Residence Life (Thrift McGill) to achieve shared goals.

  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English.
