Job Summary:

Provide support in the field of Accounting, Payroll and Accounts Payable within the Finance Program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete data entry and verification.
  • File documentation in personnel files.
  • Assist with Service and Seniority calculations.
  • Provide year-to-date information to Human Resources for confirmation of employment.
  • Provide hours for past experience letters.
  • Assist with mileage reimbursement.
  • Assist with data entry for parking deductions.
  • Assist with Payroll inquiries email, maintain inbox and distribute emails.
  • Print and record Performance Appraisals.
  • Assist with designated special project, review and document processes, develop tracking methods, create correspondence and review/develop training opportunities.
  • Assist in the improvement of processes within the Finance department.
  • Assist and provide support to Finance staff in regards to various projects.
  • Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
  • Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education Required:

  • Minimum of completion of one (1) year of an Accounting program from an accredited college or univeristy.

  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

Experience Required:

  • Recent and relevant experience working in a Finance setting is preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, and practices.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with specific knowledge of the Canadian public sector accounting standards.

  • Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.

  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).

  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.

  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.

Language:

  • Excellent English both verbal and written
