Position Title: Senior Business System Analyst, Group
Reports To: Senior Technology Manager, Core Systems
Department: Group IT
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The senior business systems analyst, Group ensures company systems operate effectively to serve the needs of the business; collaborate with end users, leaders, and executives to understand how IT systems can work better and support the implementation of identified improvements.

What you will be doing:
- Support Group Benefits from a BSA perspective
- Collaborate and coordinate with team members, end users and other key stakeholders
- Manage the integration of any system improvements to ensure the lowest impact on current work processes
- Oversee development of project scoping and estimation, act as a liaison between junior team members and project manager or intradepartmental team
- Perform systems analysis on existing work processes and systems to identify potential improvements
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for projects
- Monitor project activities and direction to gain awareness of any potential system and/or business solution risks
- Take ownership of identified systems risks and work with key stakeholders to communicate risks and build solutions
- Troubleshoot production support issues as needed and assist with root cause analysis and recommend solutions to rectify issues
- Provide escalation support to troubleshoot complex production issues and provide oversight to ensure fix is a viable and sustainable solution
- Ensure functional specification documentation for all project sizes and complex integrated system projects meet business standards and provide oversight on documentation prepared by more junior business systems analysts
- Supports analysis for business architecture discussions and decisions (facilitation, and/or participation in decision making and/or drafting business architecture diagrams)
- Uses business objectives and strategies as inputs to define capability roadmaps
What you will bring:
- 5+ years of experience in Business Systems Analyst role
- 2+ years of experience in Insurance or Financial Services Industry would be an asset
- Experience in Quality Assurance and workflow management
- CCBA or CBAP or working towards designation
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following or related discipline: computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering
- Understanding of application infrastructure, technical platforms and system development methodology
- Knowledge of various development technologies and scripting languages, delivery tools such as Azure, DevOps and/or JIRA.
- Experience in writing systems/technical specifications, user stories, process/data flows and modelling, technical diagrams.
- Demonstrate proficiency in many of the following:
- Web and client/server architectures
- Knowledge of database design
- Test Management tools (ALM, Jira, Azure DevOps)
- MS Office 365, Miro
- Working knowledge of SQL, DB2, VB6, JavaScript and Web development technologies
- AODA
- Exposure to CI/DevOps
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban
- Code analysis
