About the role

Product Designer (Part-Time) — Pathpal

Team: Product

Reports to: Chief Product Officer (CPO) Location: Oakville / Hybrid (Ontario-based)

Commitment: Part-time, 3 days per week Compensation: $50 – $65 CAD/hour, commensurate with experience.

Care before crisis.

At Pathpal, we believe healthcare shouldn't wait for an emergency to show up. We've built a pretty incredible proactive health tech platform that helps people catch problems early, stay ahead of their health, and feel genuinely cared for — not just treated. It's a big, human mission, and we think design and experience is one of the most powerful tools we have to pull it off.

We're looking for a Product Designer to join us three days a week and help shape everything from product experience to the way we tell our story through marketing. You'll work closely with our CPO and cross-functional team, bringing clarity, craft, and a little bit of delight to the way people experience proactive care.

What you'll actually be doing

Designing thoughtful, intuitive product experiences across our platform — from early concepts to shipped features Partnering with product, engineering, and the CPO to turn fuzzy problems into clear, elegant solutions Supporting product marketing initiatives — think campaign visuals, landing pages, launch assets, and anything that helps our story land Contributing to and evolving our design system so the whole product feels like it belongs together Bringing a user-first lens to every decision, always asking "does this actually help someone stay well?" Being a vocal, opinionated (kindly!) voice in a small team where design has real influence

What you bring

3+ years of product design experience, ideally with some product marketing or brand crossover A portfolio that shows range — systems thinking and visual craft Comfort working independently and asynchronously in a part-time capacity Genuine curiosity about health, wellness, or preventative care (bonus points, not a requirement) The ability to move fast without losing quality — startup pace, thoughtful output Great communication — you can explain the "why" behind your work, not just show the "what"

Why Pathpal?

We think the reason is obvious- but we get it- you're still getting to know us :)

We're an ambitious, eclectic (and awesome!) team creating something genuinely important: shift healthcare from reactive to proactive. That means: We're radically open. Strategy docs, roadmaps, hard conversations — nothing is locked in a vault. If you're on the team, you're in the room. We move like builders, not bureaucrats. Flat structure, fast decisions, minimal red tape. Your ideas carry weight from day one. No "wait three years to have an opinion" culture here. Flexibility is real, not a buzzword. Part-time doesn't mean part-valued — you'll have genuine ownership over your slice of the product. We're building something that matters. Every pixel you ship is in service of someone catching a health issue before it becomes a crisis.

How to apply (yes, this part's a little different)

Skip the cover letter. Instead, send us a "Care Before Crisis" mini-brief — a one-pager (Figma, PDF, deck, whatever you like) answering:

Show us, don't tell us: Pick one product or app you use regularly and redesign one small moment in it to feel more proactive/preventative rather than reactive. Sketch it, mock it, whatever — quick and scrappy is great. In one sentence: What's a piece of your work you're most proud of, and why? Surprise us: One fun fact, hot take, or weird talent that has nothing to do with design.

Send it to support@mypathpal.com with the subject line "Product Designer."

The process (three steps, no surprises)

Step 1 — The Intro Chat A relaxed conversation with our People/Talent team. We'll talk about you, the role, and make sure the vibe's right on both sides. Step 2 — Meet the Team You'll pair up with a member of the product team for a 1:1 real talk session, because after all, we've about breaking stigmas and getting real. Step 3 — The Final Round: Meet a Co-Founder A conversation with one of our co-founders about vision, values, and where you see yourself in a mission like this. This is your chance to get to know more about the heart of Pathpal.

Pathpal is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences — because building healthcare for everyone starts with a team that reflects everyone.

About Pathpal

Technology, Information and Internet
2-10 employees
Founded in 2024

Grief is a universal human experience — one that calls for connection, empathy, and understanding. It’s not just the loss of a loved one; grief arises from any significant life transition or loss, including the end of a relationship, a health diagnosis, a career change, pregnancy loss, or major life disruptions. Yet it remains one of the most underserved needs across technology, wellness, and the workplace.

Pathpal was created to change that. We empower people to navigate grief and other complex emotional experiences — not as short-term crises, but as ongoing realities that shape resilience, wellbeing, performance, and human connection.

Our platform blends human connection with evidence-based, on-demand mental health tools, giving employees and teams meaningful, accessible support whenever they need it. Pathpal delivers a modern, whole-person approach to wellness, supporting individuals and organizations alike.

We are a movement to reshape how organizations (and individuals) understand grief and loss, strengthen mental health, and create workplaces where people can show up fully as whole human beings.
