Project Manager, Engineering (Full Time) - Mississauga, ON
Primary Purpose
Working within a diverse multi-discipline group, the Project Manager will provide a lead role directing all project phases - engineering (basic and detailed), procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning / start-up for small to large industrial gas projects, (up to $100MM USD). This position is responsible for the overall management of project scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and associated project deliverables.
Key Accountabilities:
- Overall responsibility of project life cycle; from proposal, budget and schedule development and execution following defined and recognized project management methodologies
- Track and analyze project performance through schedule, budget and phase gate reviews, making necessary adjustments to keep projects on schedule, within budget and in compliance with all applicable safety / environmental rules and regulations
- Provide interface between internal and external clients and project teams
- Proactively engage stakeholders in all project phases, setting priorities and clearly communicating them as required
- Prepare detailed project plans and control elements to ensure successful project execution
- Anticipate problems and develop recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated events, all the while managing project risk
- Oversee the preparation of project reports and documents with respect to project status
- Potential to travel up to 30% of time depending on project requirements
Required Qualifications
Education:
- BS in Engineering from an accredited institution, or recognized equivalent combination of experience and education
- Project Management certification desirable
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- 7+ years of industrial related project management experience, preferably in a EPC environment
- Working knowledge of contract administration and business principles
- Broad understanding of various engineering disciplines
- Proven and effective leadership and planning skills
- Proven ability to work within the office, construction, and operating plant environments
- Must have the perseverance and results-driven attitude
- Must be proficient in verbal and written communication
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal / communication skills and the ability to manage change.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management software such as MS Project
