##Qualifications

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Diploma in Software Development or Engineering Technology combined with relevant experience is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical discipline is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience supporting technical or engineering projects involving measurement systems or field work is required.
  • Experience with data management, analysis, or visualization (slides, charts and graphs) in a research or applied setting is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with software tools for data handling or visualization (slides, charts and graphs) is required.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, instrumentation, or measurement methods is required.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, SQL, Excel, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with web-based visualization frameworks (e.g., React, JavaScript) is required.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and research protocols is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment are required.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

##Key responsibilities

  • Assist with deployment, operation, and maintenance of field instrumentation related to gravimetry and groundwater monitoring.
  • Support field surveys, including equipment setup, calibration checks, and verification of measurement protocols.
  • Conduct field measurements, inspections, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic components.
  • Maintain detailed field logs, quality assurance records, and technical documentation.
  • Support laboratory preparation and post-field data validation activities.
  • Organize and maintain the storage of data collected in the field utilizing a database management system selected by the research team.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for importing, cleaning, and validating environmental and instrumentation datasets (a system or process that moves data from one place to another automatically).
  • Perform exploratory data analysis using tools such as Python, SQL, and spreadsheets.
  • Ensure data documentation, metadata standards, and reproducibility practices are followed.
  • Support combining information from several research projects in the selected database.
  • Create and maintain interactive visuals (slides, charts and graphs) to help communicate data using React and related web technologies.
  • Assist in integrating backend data sources (e.g., SQL databases, CSV datasets, APIs) with visualization platforms (slides, charts and graphs).
  • Collaborate with researchers to translate scientific requirements into usable visualization features.
  • Maintain documentation of software tools (develop SOPs) to support long-term use by students and collaborators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
