About the role
' We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our API Operations team. In this role, you’ll own the day‑to‑day operation, support, and evolution of Verafin’s customer‑facing APIs, including those powering fraud, sanctions, payments, and data ingestion. You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of production‑critical systems, acting as a technical escalation point while partnering closely with vendors, customers, and internal software development teams to ensure integrations are implemented correctly, remain stable at scale, and continue to evolve as adoption grows. You’ll fit right in if you’re curious, enjoy debugging complex systems, and take pride in supporting the reliability of technology that makes a real‑world difference every day. What You'll Do Support and implement vendor and customer API integrations, ensuring they're set up correctly and running smoothly in production. Investigate and resolve production API issues, debugging complex problems and working with stakeholders to keep things moving. Build monitoring, alerts, and dashboards that help us spot issues early and keep our APIs reliable. Deliver bug fixes, enhancements, and operational improvements that make our APIs easier to use and more stable over time. Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal engineering teams to ensure seamless API adoption and support. What You'll Bring A university degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a combination of education and previous experience would be considered. 2-5 years of experience in a similar role. Strong problem-solving skills and experience with object-oriented programming (Java or C# preferred). Comfortable building and supporting REST APIs in cloud environments like AWS. Great communicator who works well in collaborative, cross-functional teams. Nice to Have Experience with test-driven development and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform. Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar frameworks. Background in fintech, payments, or regulated industries with exposure to customer-facing integrations and incident response. This position can be located in St. John’s or Toronto, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days a week in office, subject to change), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
