What You’ll Be Doing
Working within Commercial Banking and Wealth Management to support the Wood Gundy (WG) business line through maintaining staffing records, onboarding new employees, and analyzing WG branches for their staffing requirements. As a Business Analytics Analyst supporting Wood Gundy, you will assist Branch Managers and Administrators with their HR requirements to determine appropriate staffing levels based on production guidelines, as well as assisting with new hires, competitive recruits, terminations, leaves, contracts and compensation analysis based upon HR guidelines and industry data. Related activities include - coordinating authorizations and approvals for HR moves, providing staffing reports to management, and inputting and monitoring Advisor expenses through the Incentive Compensation Management system (ICM). This role entails daily contact with Branch Managers and Administrators within Wood Gundy, for various staffing issues, as well as recommending changes to business processes and gathering information and escalating issues to our partners in HR, ER and Payroll.

How You’ll Succeed
- Human Resources – Assist CIBC Wood Gundy Branch Managers and Administrators with staffing issues. Monitor overall compliance with staffing guidelines, provide guidance on salary ranges, job levels, branch staffing ratios, IA paid employee charges, and other various staffing issues. Assist Branch Administrators and HR with offer letters, job descriptions, recruiting, and other staffing related items. Assist with notice and details for final terminations of commissioned employees, and working with payroll for severance issues when required.
- Operations – Verify and input data into Incentive Compensation Management system (ICM) to ensure monthly deductions for IA charges are correct and maintain data within system. Responsibility also includes reviewing new WG branch staff salaries, out of province registrations and Service Now requests.
- Administrative Responsibilities – Maintain and update the Wood Gundy Branch Relationship Spreadsheet. Facilitate quarterly communications with Wood Gundy Branch Managers and Administrators on the status of their staffing allocations and costs.
- Employee Experience – Deliver strong customer service support to Wood Gundy Branch Managers and Administrators as well as HR stakeholders, employees and managers. Keep employee experience top of mind when responding to concerns by exhibiting strong communication skills, empathy towards the scenario at hand, and responsive and timely action.
- Problem Solving – Develop in depth knowledge of our Wood Gundy and HR processes and systems, which you leverage while investigating employee issues, managing employee data corrections, and identifying root cause. Listen, ask questions, and put yourself in the employee’s shoes. Act like an owner by taking accountability for employee issues, and know when to lean on others to find solutions.
- Consulting - Partner closely with Wood Gundy Branch Managers and Administrators and various teams across HR, as well as our external partners in investigating and resolving issues, inclusive of identifying opportunities to prevent future recurrences.
- Manage Multiple Priorities - Use effective self-management practices to manage multiple concurrent cases, activities or projects, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate experience in customer service, including responding to complex inquiries which require investigation, and liaising with multiple stakeholders. Experience with payroll, financial analysis and Workday is considered an asset.
- You have a University degree or equivalent experience in in Business/HR role in financial industry.
- You have demonstrated experience in Finance/Accounting, Management Reporting or Payroll would be an asset.
- You have strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite - Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- You are passionate about people. You have strong management and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and coach support staff. You have the ability to meet the needs of staff in a highly competitive environment where staff and client mobility is high.
- You are a strong communicator. You are able to communicate effectively to staff and clients and have problem solving skills sufficient to resolve numerous issues and conflicts.
- You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
